Hi there all,

I received my Axim back in mid December and noticed right away that the shiny chrome color of the speaker started to dull and now the shine is totally gone. It's a rusty looking color (the metal around the holes of the speaker grill). Anyone else notice this? The speaker works fine. It just seems to have oxidised. I treat my Axim with love and tenderness and it's almost always in the leather case.

I've had mine since November and its still silver... Kind of scary if you ask me...

I was going to say that maybe it is just tarnished, but from the pic it does kind of look like it's rusted.

I've had mine since December... my speaker is still silver.

Did you accidentally spill anything on it? May sound like a dumb question but an electronic device in a leather case with any little bit of moisture would be prone to rusting if bare metal was exposed. I'd be willing to bet it's rust......

No, never spilled anything on it. I baby the thing. Yes, I think it's rust too. It's almost like they forgot to coat it with something because it went dull so fast. But that's okay. I mean it still works good. I was just wondering if anyone else has seen thing same thing.

BTW -- sorry about posting in the Accessories section. I mean to have it in the Hardware part of the forum.

I've never called them about it. Actually I live in Australia. Had to go to America to get one...but now I see their available here finally, but at $200 more. I may call their tech support and ask.

Yes, I live about two miles from the ocean...but the discolouration actually started while in America in the dry Ohio winter. :-) I thought of that too, maybe humidity or salt in the air, but I don't think that's a possibility.

Interesting to hear it has happened to at least one other person.

Perhaps whoever supplies the speakers let some of them through the manufacturing process without plating them.
