memory reader/writer?

I was wondering if purchasing a reader/writer would be advantagous. I use both types of memory (SD/CF) and am thinking about purchasing an all-in-one reader/writer. I've been lokking at both the sandisk and the viking products on amazon which are $25-$30. If anyone has any thoughts please respond, I would like feedback. The main reason for purchasing one would be write speed as I am looking into getting a 1GB CF and would like a higher write speed then the ax.

Thanks

Its worth the money especially when you have large flash memory cards. I have a 512MB CF and it took ages to copy stuff using just Activesync. I bought the Sandisk 6-in-1 Reader/Writer and it made transfers so much faster and easier.

Why you might want to buy a Flash Reader/Writer: (in no order)

1. Have a large Flash Memory Card
2. Transfer large amounts of data back and fourth like MP3s, Videos, etc.
3. If Activesync is failing on you when transfering data
4. To speed the transfer process
5. etc (can't think of anything else at the moment)

One thing to remember is to achieve the highest transfer rate, all your components in the process must be fast meaning:

If you have a slow CF card, the highest transfer rate you can get is the CFs' transfer rate even though you might have a Firewire Reader/Writer boasting 480MB/s. (Strongest link in the chain is the weakest one)

With that said, make sure you get a fast CF card and Reader/Writer. Using a Reader/Writer on a slow CF card still beats transfering files via Activesync, any day.

Oh yeah, it is very advantagous... I bought a cf card reader (have a digi camera) and it works great (for the camera and the Axim). Had I waited a couple months I could have spent the money on an "all in one". I use both SD and CF. Not that this post is about me, it isn't... I know, no, You asked the question, I know. No ok... Yes.. Yes is the answer.. :hide:

Very useful especially as noted when you have a number of devices that use CF cards, SD cards, etc. Faster when using USB 2.0 for large transfers.
