UK Aximer ordering Storage Media from the USA
Curious to know if any other Aximers out there have had problems (delays) in ordering storage media from online traders in the States from customers in the UK. Sure there are the obvious delays in postage time and pure geography but having ordered memory on the 5th May that was supposedly in stock here I am desperate for my 512mb CF and 256mb SD from www.flashmemorystore.com and it aint not here yet. Have tried in vain via email to check status but no reply. Appreciate that online ordering is massive but unlike most of the web traders I have used thus far, this is by far the worst after order care that I have ever had. I did get one response assuring me that the items were on back order (site gave the impression it was in stock) and would be mailed on 19 May and be with me within 24-48 hrs but the 19th came (now 24 May) and nothing has arrived. To add insult to injury (as their website claim) advisory notice (email) that the goods had been despatched has not been received.

Grateful for any replies from Aximers that might have similar experiences with this company and also grateful to hear from users at home (UK) and abroad (USA) that could point me to a site that offers cost-effective memory with a reputation for good service.

Many thanks in advance. MDR

I found that expansys in Manchester were one of the cheapest memory sellers in the UK that stocked a good range.

Thanks for that Fish Net...

Have been on Expansys site quite often looking for GPS solutions (and very good they are too) but never bothered to look at their memory range thinking that anything in the UK (having done the usual research) could compare with the USA on price. Wish Expansys had advertised their memory more prominently on search engines.
Thanks for the tip off - hopefully can cancel the USA order and stay at home in future.

Another site you could try in the UK is:

http://www.flash-card-store.co.uk/store.htm

I ordered a sd card & a cf adapter for smart media & they took the trouble to e-mail me to make sure I knew what I was getting to prevent a wrong sale. Confirmed I had an Ax & I wanted to be able to view the digital pics from my fuji camera & the lot came the day after next (normal post).

Since ordered another cf card - same quick service - no nonsense!

Many thanks for the replies guys - have finally heard from them and they are full of apologies and point out that their French supplier is having difficulty obtaining the items from their Asian supplier )

Not my problem.... if one is to trade on the web then one should not make misleading comments etc.

They have since offered to replace (at no extra charge) to same capacity but more expensive / higher quality media. I can live with that - watch this space.

Thanks to all.

Another competitively priced supplier of memory in the UK is 7dayshop.com. A 128 Mb CF card costs about £25 including delivery.
