Headset w/volume boost sound?

Can anyone suggest a headset that has volume control on the headset that will actually boost the volume level? I was using a set on a plane but still couldn't hear my movie. The style I was wearing don't really block out background noise but I like them because they are small enough to fit in a pocket.

Thanks

Glisson

Yes, any brand of noise cancelling headphones would be good for a plane. They have a technology that basically gets rid of background noise if you are using them in a noisy situation. Now, these noise cancelling headphones have a price to them, but well worth the money. Actually, I believe that Panasonic (or was it Jensen?) has a set priced around $50 retail....so you could probably find those on web pretty cheap.

I just recently bought a new pair of "closed" Sennheiser headphones (PX200) . Didn't get the noise-cancelling variety because 1) they were considerably more expensive, and 2) they require an additional power (i.e., batteries) source (making them bulkier & giving more to worry about).

With the Sennheisers, I was surprised at how much I had to push down my volume control to comfortably listen to music, compared to my previous "open" (Koss) headphones; almost as low as the volume control will go before it mutes.

I had a pair from an electronics store that had a volume control (no additional power) that worked good. I think they were $16, and worked pretty good. I lost those, and when I get a chance I will get over to Best Buy or something like that to get another pair (at $16 is was not a big deal to lose them).
I imaging losing the Sennheiser's would give you grief.
