using ambicom 11mb cf card

i got an x5 advanced...rom v05

I just got the ambicom card and it works fine. However, the installation guide says there is a ambicom wireless manager that installs onto the pocket pc. However, the pocket pc manager takes over.

Is this bad or good? The card works and its fine, just wanted to have powersave mode and things like that.

I have an Ambicom card that I used on previous PPCs but didn't actually use their drivers so I cannot direct address your question. One point, though, powersave features frequently do not work well between different brands of network equipment so even if you had the Ambicom utility working, it might not give you the features you are looking for.

i have an ambicom card, their guide says there is a utility. i was just wondering if anyone has actually found where that software is. Is this a prism based card? Are the prism drivers better than the ones given by ambicom?

any answers would greatly be appreciated.

Yes, it is a Prism-based CF. I'm not sure the Prism drivers are 'better,' but I used them, mainly because at the time I was using the card, Ambicom had not released WM03 drivers and the PPC02 drivers did not work well with the newer OS (but the Prism Intersil reference drivers worked fine).

I use the ambicom card with my x5 and I use the ambicom utility on my x5 also it does have a powersave option but you will severly decrease your wifi performance if you use powersave mode so if you got it working already with the dell utility then i would not worry about it just dont use powersave or your connection speed slows to a crawl and it will not stay connected to your ap you will have to keep reconnecting everytime it has to download something
