I will be staying in a hotel for a week that offers "high-speed internet access" but not WiFi. I assume this means cabling my X5 to their service, but I have no idea how to or if this can be done.
Any help appreciated as I've only used a WiFi card in the past.
You could purchase a small portable wifi router and plug it in to the hotels network. Here is one example, shop around you might find one that is cheaper than the one I just listed, or search the other threads and see if someone has found another solution. Hope this helps. Also dont forget to buy a CAT5 cable as well, sometimes the routers dont come with one, and may be sold separately.
The last time I went to a hotel such as this one, I simply took along a router and got on that way, by plugging the router into the plug, and as armygrunt said, make sure you have a CAT5 cable to plug it in with
...and there are CF Ethernet cards that will work with the X5. The only ones that seems to be commonly available these days are a couple of the models made by Socket and they can be rather expensive (a travel router will probably be less).
