Compact Flash Card
Hello all! First post! I have been watching this site for a few days and I can tell that everyone is extremely helpful. I did my research and bought the Axim Advanced. This was such a great purchase! I have to admit that I was going to get another PPC, but decided this was the better deal and I have no regrets. Anyway, to get to the topic. Office Depot currently is advertising the Memorex 256 CF card for 49.99 (There is about 30 dollars worth of rebates). Has anyone used this card? Pros/cons? I just received my ebay purchase of the Lexar SD (read about the SD problems that the Axim was having with another brand). Just was curious about the Memorex card. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

CF cards are generally less error prone in the axims than SD cards. Even sandisk CF cards work OK usually.

If I am correct in understanding that that 256 MB CF card will cost you only $20 after rebates, I think you should go for it. I haven't seen any complaints about memorex CF that i can remember, but CF isn't my thing, either.

But I can say that if Sandisk CF's are generally decent (at least much less problematic than their SD, judging from the relative numbers of complaints), how bad could Memorex possibly be?

Again, I would buy it. In fact, do you know if that deal is good for Office Depot online? I really might get in on it myself...

A couple of things that I look for in any type of flash memory is "Made in Japan". It cuts down on possiable problems. Also, load the card up to the limit with data a couple of time see if any errors occur. If it passes this then the card is OK.

Astounded,

The 49 is with the rebates (I think it is going for 79 in the store). I don't know about the online store, but I read it in the AD in the Sunday paper. I might try it. Thanks for the info.
