Cool SD card formatting

I have just purchased a Pretec 256mb SD card and I was wondering weather I shoul format the card in any particular way before using it to maximise speed, storage and reliabilty. I have seen posts on the forums talking about formatting in fat etc. but was unsure what was the best way. Thanks in advance for any help given

Why don't you try it out first before you do anything with it? You may not have to do anything at all.

a properly functioning SD card does not require any formatting.

I believe Happycheesecake stress-tested at least one Pretec SD card and found it was good.

I dropped about 100mb of wma files on it yesterday afternoon and then last night it came up and said it needed to be formatted. I soft reset it and it still came up with the same thing so I formatted it. I will try it with the fresh format but does any have any suggestions?;)

get StorageTools (there are links in many of the "bad SD card" threads) and format to FAT32, block size 512 bytes, sector size 16k.

I've never used it but those are the specifications i keep hearing (and repeating).
