When I originally got my Axim a few years ago (400mhz, PPC 2003) I bought a Linksys wireless CF card for it. If I recall, it never really worked perfect - sometimes when I would insert it, the screen "Unknown card in Socket 1" would come up. It worked it I typed the driver name, but that was still annoying. Eventually the card broke, and I stopped using my Axim.

Now, I have my Axim back out and I'm starting to use it more. I just got a wireless card a few days ago (Samsung MagicLan) and believe it or not, it's doing the same thing

I installed the driver in windows over the windows mobile device center (using Vista), then I copied the .cab to the axim. I executed it on there, and it seems to have installed. I inserted the CF card, and it worked fine. A few days later when I went to use it again, the Unknown card message came up. After typing in "Samsung WLAN 11g CF Card", it worked again. Now, it's hit or miss whether it works or not whenever I pick it up.

Anyone have any ideas? This is extremely annoying...now I know why the built-in wireless of new Axims is nice.


PS - Since the linksys, the Axim has had a hard reset.

Only suggestion would be to get the latest wifi driver. Make sure your Axmin is clean of wifi drivers and newly reset.

You could check the registry to see if there's any trashing entries regarding the wifi.
