i think i read on this webpage that there is this thing i can buy that goes in the compact flash card section that can hold my SIM card to my cell phone and i would be able to use it as a cell phone. i was wondering how the reception was using the axim and what the axim use as an antenna. Thanks, also any links to the products would be appreciated.

Its called an AudioVox RTM 8000 Compact Flash Card Phone .Dunno much else about it though as still researching it!

i was just about to post a thread about how to make a cellphone axim!, let me add one question, what service will it use?, anybody know, im planning on getting a cell rather use my axim to do it, make it worth the bucks i payed for it.

it will work with any provider. its just whatever sim you stick in that's what provider it will work for.

I was the orignal maker of this thread and i honestly don't think its a good idea anymore. I use to have a nokia 8390 and the reception in my room was 1-2 bars. i just recently got a nokia 6800 and in the exact same spot i now get 4-5 bars of solid reception.

The reception is very important to me because i want to get something that works. I highly doubt the axim will have good reception at all, only because it wasn't BUILT or ment to be used as a phone

I think it sounds like better idea than it turns out tobe. My brother is has one he uses but is still contantly switching backand forth to original samsung because of size and reception reasons. They all seem to be another $200, I am now waiting until a pocketpc phone equivalent to current axim at least.

The CF card has the antenna built in...reception does not depend on the axim but on the cf card's antenna...

Just to be clear...this apparently will not work on ALL carriers...it does not support CDMA (Sprint).

Other than that, it does look interesting:)
