Cheap Mass Storage options

Are there any cheap mass storage options for PDA's Something with 20+ GB of storage? maybe a usb hard drive or something. CF cards are too expensive and dont have enough space. Is there anything out there for a pda?

TIA

Not yet. Keep waiting though. My prediction will be some type of cheap mass storage within the next couple years. Like somehow hooking an Ipod type device to a PPC. Man that would be sweet!

Closest thing is a WiFi card and a network drive. Limited to house or similar environment.

I saw a IDE to network adapter on the net but I wrote the company and they will not send pricing information. Wow that would be sweet!

Imagine a 200 GB HD with the IDE to IP adapter connected to a WiFi bridge and a WiFi card in the Axim. That could be moved in a house, office and maybe even plugged into a DC port in a car.

Linksys has an 80 gig NAS (network attached storage) box which is upgradable to 240 (need to replace the 80 gig drive in there w/ a 120 and put in an additional 120). I have been drooling over this thing since I saw it released. Too bad it is like $400-$500. If only I could win the Lottery.

Transparent IDE over IP

The WEBasDISK acts like any 100% IDE compatible hard disk drive. Contents of that drive are read on the fly from any location on the Internet or local file servers including any MS Windows workstation.

WEBasDISK can operate in two distinct modes:

image mode
The server contains a disk image that has been prepared for use with WEBasDISK. It allows total operating system independence.

file mode
The server contains any file system in the form of a recursive directory tree.

WEBasDISK uses the TCP/IP network protocol on the network connection side. It uses HTTP or SMB (CIFS) to access the files. HTTP allows WEBasDISK to read the data from any web server in the Internet. SMB allows WEBasDISK to read the files on any MS Windows workstation or server.
