I just got my second 256 mb compact flash card since I filled up my first one, and i have a question. how do i set the 2nd one up on my axim so it knows the difference? thanks!:)

Not sure what you mean, but you don't have to do anything. The axim will know it is a different CF card.

can I move files from one card to the other directly on the axim, or do i have to use my desktop?

Well, you can't exactly have 2 CF cards at one time unless you have a special card that can handle 2 CF cards. But you can transfer files from one card to the other either through the Axim or via sync the desktop explorer or if you have a CF card reader.
