Question remove/unplug usb cable from cradle?

i'm considering the purchase of an x5 cradle (since one didn't come with my used x5). i connect my x5 to the pc wirelessly, so the usb cable will not be required, and i basically just want use the cradle as a charging stand. (i hear this usb cable doesn't even charge it up & i'll need to plug in the power cord anyway, correct?)

can i easily remove (or better yet, simply unplug) the usb cable from the cradle? thanks!

The Dell cradle that I have, the USB cable is not removable. However, you don't have to plug the USB cable to the computer for the charger to work.

Yes, that's pretty much all correct. The cradle needs the power supply to charge the Axim. The USB cable does not supply power to the Axim and is only needed for synchronization / communication with the desktop.

ok, thanks for your quick replies. i think i might just cut the usb cord off (or possibly try to find some other way to remove it) since it'll just be in the way. hopefully i won't ruin my cradle in the process :) but if i do, i guess i'll just have to buy another one ;)
