What brand CF & SD Cards are best ?

What brand works best on the Axim? I was leaning towards Lexar but now I find both good and bad comments on this brand for the Axim. Can anyone help?

I have a Lexar CF and three lexar SD cards with which I am very satisfied -- no troubles at all. I also have a PNY SD which seems fine (with considerably less usage, however). Some users have reported problems with Lexar SD cards not made in Japan, but I have no experience with these cards. My caution would be to stay away from Sandisk SD cards; I have never had one, but lots of users here and elsewhere have reported problems. See the long discussion in the Hardware Troubles Forum here http://aximsite.com/boards/showthrea...&threadid=4031 for more about the Sandisk problems.

I have 2 Sandisk CF cards and 2 Kingston CF cards. I haven't had problems with any of them. I would advise against Sandisk SD cards, though. The one I got didn't work too well and had to send back for an exchange. But, the Sandisk CF cards work well.

Stay away from Sandisk SD cards. I have a Panasonic SD card and it works flawlessly.

Thanks for the input. I think I will go with Crucial or Lexar. Can't go wrong with Crucial and there are some great deals out there for Lexar Media.

I have simpletech and kingston, both have worked fine. It seems along as the card was manufactured in Japan it works ok. Anywhere else, you might be taking a chance.

most CF made by all brands works pretty well. sandisk CF has a few complaints, but not much and you'd probably be OK with them.

SD on the other hand is only good if it's made in Japan, though you need to ask happycheesecake for the latest info.

simpletech, simpletech, simpletech....all of their SD is Japanese. same with panasonic and memorex.

lexar is a risk, and until you know where exactly crucial gets theirs, so are they.

To continue with EEG's post, Toshiba also seem to be all made in Japan and I haven't heard any problems (I still haven't done the full happycheesecake test on my Tosh 256 yet)

Worried

Is this true or does it sound insanely overpriced!!!. This is a note from my supplier. Prices are all in Canadian dollars. Does anyone know what the "32XHHS" means??

Hi Randy,

Sorry to be late with this.

Lexar are showing me two versions of their SD Cards. One is labeled "32XHHS" and the other isn't. Does this distinction mean anything to you. A newer spec maybe?

LEXAR SD256-266 256MB SD CARD $ 107.00
ETA 1-2 WEEKS
~AND~
Lexar SD256-32-266 256MB SD CARD 32X HHS $118.00

look up "happycheesecake" on google, you can get a database of axim compatible SD cards, as well as a proprietary method of testing compatibility with your SD cards-- i think jon's a member of this forum...

Sandisk SD's

I tried 2 X 128mb Sandisk cards with Sync & Go, and the content would just disappear! the disk would be blank. I have changed to a non-branded cheepie and since everything is great.

Scankdisk!
