Using PDA to access automotive OBD data

Has anyone been successful in using a PDA to access and interpret the diagnostic data available on today's car's OBD port?

If so, what hardware (CF card, interface with 40 pin connector, etc.) and software would be needed?

As many of us already use the PDA in the car for an MP3 player, GPS, etc. this would seem like a natural progression.

Thanks!
