I'm looking for a wifi card for my Axim X5, i found your FAQ page listing a few cf cards that worked, however i cannot seem to find anywhere to purchase them. The only place i found was a company called amacom, who do not appear to reply to emails, i can only assume they are inactive :p
So, if anyone has any cf cards lieing around they are willing to sell, or happens to know a place where i can pick one up, i'd greatly appriciate it. Thanks :)
Socket cards are often recommended, and should be more readily available. Don't forget to check Ebay. If you want to buy a used card here, please post in the Classifieds forum:
I've searched ebay, i've searched google products, i've searched for a few hours, i'm not completely stupid.
There are no posts in your classifieds forum newer than 3 months old, with "Socket" in them, i can only assume that there are none here either.
So as i said in my original post, I'm still looking for some. As i'm new to the PDA scene i was assuming you guys had some ideas where i might be able to pick one up. Thanks :)
Socket Mobile (there are links to distributors and resellers. I checked and CDW has the P500 card for a little over $90).
Ambicom - also has links for 'where to buy' - Amazon has the G card for $57.
NOTE: The two cards I've just mentioned will only work if your X5 has WM03. If it is still on PPC02, you will need to locate an 802.11b card and eBay is your best option for them (I found Linksys, Ambicom, Symbol, and D-Link 802.11B WiFi CF cards listed. There were some other brands, too, but these I know work with the X5 with PPC02).

I'm surprised they say the P500 won't work with the X5. They may say that because most X5s were sold with PPC02 (which is not supported by the P500). Still, even if you have WM03 on yours, it's probably not worth tking a $90 chance. You'd probably be better off with an 802.11b device in any case if you can find one. The CF transfer rates on the X5 won't give you any benefit with an 802.11g.
I also meant to point out in my earlier message - be sure to stick with a CF WiFi adapter. No sd WiFi cards will work with the X5.

It's a good card but that price seems high (I paid $30 for one 4 years ago).

CShadowRun, with Ike's help, I just finished this trick myself. It was very simple and cheap.
After some research, I found that the Symbol/Socket/Motorola LA-4137 compact flash card is one of the best available. Go to eBay and search for 'LA-4137'. There are about 10 auctions for this wifi card right now. Pick one up for 20-something bux. I am running PPC2002(A02) and Ike pointed the the drivers here: ftp://symstore.longisland.com/Symsto...tupPPC2002.exe
They worked perfectly the first try and now my X5 is surfing with the best of them.
I am in the UK so this may not help but I purchased an agere CF WIFI card from ebay.co.uk and the drivers came with it. It cost me £17 posted, brand new, which is approx $34. It works great. This may not help our USA friends but worth bearing in mind if you are UK based.
I use a Linsys WCF12 802.11b and has been working great from the beginning with both PPC2002 and WM2003. Can't remember how much it was, but, it was a long time ago.
I used an Ambicom CF wifi card on my X5. Works great. Unfortunately, I do not remember where I got it from back then, but I at least wanted to share that the brand/card did work.
