Hmm Trouble with 802.11b CF card

I've recently bought the axim 5 with a wireless CF card. We use BT Voyager 2000 wireless broadband here in the UK. I've successfully installed the TrueMobile 1180 driver via active sync and the card and the Voyager modem seem to be talking to each other. So why can I not connect to the internet? Whenever I enter a web address in Internet Explorer, it says page not found!!!!

Any suggestions?:exc:

Hmm

I'm having the same problem with PPC2003 and Netgear Wireless CFC. It shows that it connected to the network, and you can see it from the router. Just can't connect to the Internet, anybody know what the problem is. BTW, The wireless CFC worked with PPC2002 with no problems.

Alittle off topic but I was wondering how you like the netgear card? How is the range/battery usage? I'm still using PPC 02 so I wouldn't by affected by these issues. Thanks

It seems that many Axim users have got this sort of problems with 'page not found', inspite of all the wireless settings being done.
I've got this advice from -Ike- :
Can you connect with an IP number such as Google at http://216.239.39.99/ If this does not work, try installing vxUtil beor PocketDHCP to make sure your Axim is receiving an appropriate IP number.

I'm gonna try if it works today. If any of you solves this puzzle, let me know ,please.
Thanx a million!!!

Wi-Fi connection problems solved!

Thanks for all your help. A friend with a keen interest in this problem looked at the Dell support forums where apparently there is lots of help.

The problem stems from the TrueMobile driver not working well with Pocket Microsoft 2003 (power management conflict I think). He uninstalled the TrueMobile driver and installed one from Orinoco (www.orinocowireless.com). Now I can happily surf the net with my Axim - no thanks to Dells technical support, especially those in India.

It appears that Dell is aware of the problem, and a download will appear (eventually) in the Axim download site.

Hope this helps

make sure your wireless ethernet (under configure wireless) connects to THE Internet and not work. you can find under
first go to settings, then wireless ethernet, then click on wireless, then general tab.. there you will make sure
Connects to The Internet.

I have the TrueMobile 1180 and use the updated driver from Dell website. I assigned the IP to the X5 that is running 2003. Able to connect to email, internet... when you assign the Ip make sure that you set up the DNS and WINS under the Name Servers.
