Lag between keyboard input and characters on screen

When I use my Dell keyboard with my Axim (and also sometimes when I use the note pad) there can be a several second lag between input and character appearance on the screen. I have tried going into systems and shutting down all programs except WORD, but that doesn't help. In emails from Dell tech support I have been advised to try a soft reset, which only helps for a day or two. I've also been advised to try a hard reset, but before I go further, has anyone else had this problem? What did you do to solve it? Thanks,

SU Student

I don't have the Dell keyboard, but from what I've read, there could be too many programs running, which is why a soft reset only works for awhile. Make sure you close down all unnecesary running programs by going to Start--Settings--System --Memory --Running Programs. You can also try the Switcher Bar utility or Icbar or Wisbar to close your programs more easily.

Thanks for suggesting this but I have already tried shutting everything else down, and it didn't solve the problem.

Ok, but you do realize that due to memory leak, even if you open a program and then close it, you have less resources available afterwards than before you opened the program.

To find out if there is memory leakage, check your memory status before you open and after you close the keyboard software (should be the same). Make sure you are not running anything else. Also, there are know applications (Journal bar & taskplus I believe) that are know to have memory leaks. Do you have any of these installed?
