I bought the Micro Innovations (pocketop)keyboard at Staples like several other members did. I initially loaded the driver that came with the cd and my axim would give me a message " no infrared connection". I removed the driver, did a soft reset and downloaded the driver for the axim from pocketop. There is no program when I go to Start>Programs that says wireless keyboard or pocketop. There is a pocketop when I search with FE but when I tap on it "There is no application associated with the pocketop keyboard driver...." message comes up. Did I do something wrong when I downloaded the driver? There is no window to open to tap "enable keyboard" like the instruction book advices after finding the program under "programs" because it isn't there. When I go to notes or word "pocketop keyboard" is listed as a choice for input. It said it installed on my Axim but I can't get it to work. I noticed the review said to try it in the landscape mode. Do I need special software to have my axim in landscape? The MI keyboard doesn't seem to have all the accessories the pocketop came with for attaching it in landscape...at least it doesn't appear that way to me. Anybody had any of these problems and have any suggestions???? I would appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks

Micro Innovations does not support any new driver for the keyboard (suck, right?), i emailed them and they told me to get the new driver from Pocketop. First, go to www.Pocketop.net to get the lastest driver. Second, uninstall the Micro Innovations driver and reset your Axim (for safety). Third, install the Pocketop driver and enable it, you are good to go!

Oh another thing, Pocketop driver is much better!

Thanks

First, open pocket word and choose poketop keyboard. a bar will show up at the bottom, the first icon (w/ a small arrow) is the one that use for landscape. usually if you tap on that it will enable your keyboard. Also, you have to disable your IR 'recieving' mode for the keyboard to work (go to setting/beam/ and uncheck the setting).

Make sure when you install the driver that you don't have any memory cards in the unit, SD or CF. After you load the driver, then you can put the mem cards back in.

The micro and the pocketop or the same. On my Micro box it says "designed by pocketop".. you can usually find it cheaper on ebay,. about $50, It works great. You jsut need to make sure not to put the driver that is on the disk, instead download the current driver from pocketop.net. As for the range... I havent really tested it, I only use it in ladscape mode so the range doesn't matter and the Axim site nicely on the stand sideways. i have yet to loose my connection--but I just got it.

i just got the micro keyboard and i think it works great. its best in landscape mode, but i dont always like to use it because you always have to reset it. does it cause any harm to always have to reset? anyways i read somewhere that some people were having problems using it in portrait mode on the stand, i've been having that problem too. it has problems detecting it when its upright. but i've figured out that you have to place the stand about 1.5 to 2 inches (the bottom of the axim to the keyboard) away from the keyboard, and have the left side of the axim line up directly with the infrared port on the keyboard. thats the only way i can get it to work in portrait. other than that i think the keyboard is nice once you get used to it.

Here is a review I did awhile back. I went as far as two foot from keyboard to stand with no problem.

I'm thinking of ordering the Dell Keyboard...I think I would rather use it instead of fooling with the IR...
