I get to get an Axim with my Tax Return (Thank you wife).

Now what do you people think of the case that comes with Axim?

Is it any good?

What cases would you recomend for the Axim?

Finally, I found this case that attaches to a belt at bestbuy.com -
The Targus Universal Belt Case for Handhelds - http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=110991...at=564&scat=565

I really like the idea of a beltcase. I guess I really would have a batman like utility belt with my Axim, Leatherman, and cellphone on my belt. (Geek Alert :P )

Anyway are there any other beltcases that are good and protect your Axim or what would you recommend.

Thanks!

Wow, that can carry the kitchen sink too!

Kinda liked the scout one too.

So what do people think of the case that came with the Axim (getting back to my first question)

I have one of those (no belt clip) on order, they have specialized dell leather cases that are thin and form fitting with a few credit card sleeves, some sleeves for storing memory cards, and a pocket. there are cutouts for buttons and it has a snapping flipcover. Much nicer... too bad it doesn't ship 'til the end of this month =/

Dell flip case
Do not purchase the optional Dell leather flip case. The unit does not fit properly into the case. I cannot close the cover and one of the magnets does not hold. I am thinking of putting some velcro on the bottom.

You can search this site and find a LOT of information on cases, including reviews.

A lot of people like the leather flip cases, such as EB Slipper, Vaja, Sena, PielFrama. They are all fairly similar, with or without belt clips, and are fairly trim. These protect the axim a moderate amount.

A lot of other people like the aluminum side-flip cases. These are very trim and protect the axim well. I don't think any of them come with belt clips but a clip could be added.

The leather and the aluminum cases hold the axim plus perhaps a couple of SD cards and maybe a couple of credit cards, but not much else.

There are other cases, such as the grindergear that adapt to hold more than just the axim, maybe CF cards, even cables and the AC adapter for the larger cases.

I have a PielFrama black leather case myself, with belt clip.

I see no one mentioned Krussel, the Krussel case is similar to the Sena. It is very good quality, and includes a belt clip. I'm very satisfied with the Krussel case. Just another opinion!

"Horses for Courses" I think but I'm really pleased with my Piel Frama. Pics here if you're interested.

Steve -- thanks for the post on the Piel Frama case. I had not seen it before, and was seriously considering the Bellagio. Think I might change my mind. But the $$ are quite a bit higher than for the others. I trust that it is truly worth the difference. It certainly seems like it from what I read now and your pics and great. thanks.

Steve, what kind of pressure is put on the CF card when the cover is open and pressing down on it?

The problem I have with my Krussel is that the power button can't be pushed on without the stylus. I do like the feel of the leather and how you can wrap the flip cover around the back to make a handle.

I always used the stylus to power up my axim even without the case. To me it was just natural, the power button is just too recessed!

I did not like the original nor the deluxe Dell cases.

I purchased a DSI holder, which comes with a belt clip, and think that the pluses outweigh the negatives.

Take a look at the review section. There is a lot of good information and links to most, if not all, of the sites so that you can see what the various cases look like.

I returned the Dell aluminum case today. I was told by Dell that it would accomodate the larger battery - it won't. I didn't like the case door being on the right - I liked the flip case I had with my iPaq, but alas, it won't fit the Axim. Also, the top of the Axim is not covered by the aluminum case. When a CF card is inserted, there is a large gap left behind the card. Since I would be carrying my Axim in a handbag, I'm concerned that little goobs and fuzz would get into that space and eventually that could foul the contacts and damage the CF port.

I also returned the large battery. Frankly, the battery that comes with it is truly AMAZING compared to the life of the battery in my old iPaq. The large battery adds more weight and bulk to the unit than I'm comfortable with. I read a post somwhere here tonight that the Axim is too big and bulky; compared to my 3-yr-old iPaq the x5 is a sleek, sexy little sports car!

I researched cases and bought the Rhino Skin flip case with belt attachment for my husband - he's very happy with it and the case is slim and reasonably well made for what we paid for it, although certainly not 'deluxe'.

I checked out the Grinder Gear bags - they're very cool, but I wrote to them requesting 'more chick colors'. Amazingly, they wrote back today and said they'd consider that for their next production run. I hope they do.

I found a RED leather flip case - it is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed that it is nice...I'll let you know!

I kind of like the flip-cover from ThePocketSolution.com...it's small and doesn't get in the way of the buttons (IE for gaming). The only things I don't like is how it doesn't flip all of the way to the back like my Palm m100 did...why would you want your flip cover to stick straight up in the air when it's open? Not that it sticks straight up anyways because the velcro isn't strong enough to hold it. Great and small to put in your pocket - it sure has taken hundreds of scratches and dents that would otherwise be on my screen. I wish someone would make a flip-cover that fits in the CF slot and when it's open it sits flush with the back of the unit?
