If you want a simple polished metal cover you might want to check out the one at thepocketsolution.com. It is a simple flip cover that protects the screen and does not add any bulk. With this cover I can fit the AXIM in my shirt pocket and not worry about a damaged screen.

I have heard of the covers, and actually, my dad is considering getting one, I'm more looking for something like this - http://www.executivepda.com/HTML/Products/.../metalcases.htm, but I can't find anything for the Axim. I'm a student, and really want a nice case that will protect my whole Axim, not just the screen.

Add me to the list of those looking for polished metal. A case that opens and closes, not a cover, and with Neoprene (or something else soft) to cushion inside. I've seen some nice looking slim ones for Palms that I think were made by Palm. I've heard that Rhinoskin makes a brushed steel case for the iPAQs. Has anyone heard of anything that is made for an Axim-sized PC?

That is what I want...
Did he give you a date that it might be available. If enough of email and ask for one it might be sooner ;)

I'm not a shock expert, but I have some shock experience with Military applications.
If a metal (or any other material) case does not have any padding, then it may actually do much more harm than good in the event of a drop. The soft cases -- even the leather one from Dell acutally may absorb more shock than the metal ones and therefore be greater protectors.
Screens break when shocked because of their lack of tensile strength, my old Palm VIIx screen shattered when the corner of the CASE hit concrete from about 3 feet. The shock killed the screen, not the drop, in fact the screen never hit anything.
YMMV
Just some points worth considering.

Proporta are planning on making one soon as well. The Ipaq cases they make generally seem to get good reviews.
The website says if you order now they will send you a neoprene case while you wait....

That is a great point. From the picture it look's like the ones at innopocket have some sort of padding inside. I think I might sent them a message and ask about that.. thanks.

Does anyone know if there is a flip style case out there that you attach through the compact flash slot, so you don't have to stick anything to the axim.
Thanks
Mike

Seems like a lot of Aximites are emailing Innopocket, myself included. Perhaps that will turn up the flame a bit. :)

Innopocket cases are excellent, in my opinion. I have the Ipaq case, and the genio case, both modified to fit my e740. As soon as my dell comes I will be checking the fit, to see if I can modify either as a temporary fix until innopocket begins production on one for the X5. (I also emailed them a request)

One question you need to ask before you buy any cover, case or whatever is: How will I carry the AXIM and is the cover or case that I'm getting going to prevent that. If you are going to throw it into a purse or briefcase it does not really matter but if it is going into a shirt pocket then a huge case with tons of padding, paper pads, pencils and whatnot is not going to make it.
To each according to his needs and from each according to his wants and I WANT IT ALL! NOW!
