Hi folks,
I'm supposed to be getting my Axim "soon" (ordered last week) and I've been looking around for a case that will hold all the stuff I'm getting/have got. That is:

Axim
CF modem
CF NIC (10/100)
CF GPS receiver
folding keyboard

There are a lot of cases out there for the Axim and some memory cards but I haven't come across any that can handle the bulk (HA!) of the CF GPS and NIC cards. Anyone know of some good ones out there? I realise it will be larger than the average case but anything beats lugging a laptop around all the time

Cheers

D

Since you are looking to tote around quite a bit of stuff, I would check out The Basecamp from Grinder Gear.

If you need even more spcae, take a look at The Pod from RoadWoried. Clearly, it's not an Axim specific bag, but it certainly holds a lot...

The BaseCamp looks really neat! I am debating on ditching the zippered case that I bought with the Axim and this is just what I have been looking for. thanks!

OMG, nothing says GEEK louder than being seen lugging around those two cases...

I'm going to get the 120

You should be able to pick both of these up at your local Ritz Camera store.

Case to hold everything
The main reason I bought the Axim was to replace a laptop and reduce the size and weight of my travel package. The cases I looked at were either too big or not big enough.

I ended up buying an e-runner zippered case (Model 2022-52) with a built-in PDA holder at Office Max, completely gutted it except for the PDA holder and for another investment of about 5 bucks, got black elastic and fabric glue and made holders inside for cables, etc. Airport screeners love these things and have to see them operate so the case will be opened and stirred a lot. It holds the Axim, foldable keyboard, CF modem, spare backup battery, spare main battery, spare pen/stylus, phone cable, synch cable, and charger cables. Outside dimensions are about 6.5 X 8.5 X 2 inches. The case has an outer pocket for a boarding pass and passport or the companion CD, but too small for a full size ticket. It's stuffed, but small.

If you fill out the survey at GrinderGear, you get 5% off your purchase of the Basecamp!

I guess I will be ordering mine today!

I am currently using a case I bought at Staples from Day Runner. It had a calender etc. in it too. I bought a couple zipploc 3 ring pouches and it holds my Axim, Extra Battery a couple CF storage cards plus one PCMCIA adapter, a couple SD Storage cards, a CF WiFI card, a CF Bluetooth card, Xtra Syli, a Pen, Note pad for handing out notes for the technically challenged, bus. cards and a 3 in one sync charger cable.

I love my axim but it will never replace my Laptop. It is great for quick reference, day planner and quick email admin. listening to MPS's on a flight, games, and an occasional emergency map.
