I highly doubt it since they could not make them thin enough

actually, they could make them thin enough (I have a thin, flexible fresnel lense, though it's not a screen protector)

the problem with the idea of a magnifying screen protector, however, is that magnification decreases the closer the lense gets to the object you're trying to magnify. with a screen protector right up against the screen, you'll get virtually no magnification.

now, that said, the axim's screen is recessed, so a lense that laid flush on the casing around the screen might get some degree of magnification. but that wouldn't be installable as a conventional screen protector, I don't think.

It would also play havoc on screen tap accuracy.

Though if you were doing something where you were using the buttons or jog dial instead of screen taps (i.e. reading a book, playing a game) a magnifier that was not in contact with the screen should be fine.

Maybe someone should invent a holder that places a magnifier a short distance above the screen for just such uses.

They make magnifiers for gameboys and other small video games. I wonder if they could be adapted?

If the magnifying glass was the same size as the screen you wouldn't be able to see the whole screen. It would have to extend on all sides.
