I only want to start looking into other keyboard models after i think the Belkin would be bad, could anyone give me a list of things against the belkin ?
The keyboard is rather cheap ($40) and it looks like it would suit my needs but i want to be absolutely certain :)
Sorry no coupon but I have to say that I like the Belkin now that I have one that works. The mirror for the ir gives it almost two feet straight back and I can vary side to side much more than I thought I would be able to. I notice lag only when I start to type but not very often. I am still trying to get used to the keys as I had a Dell keyboard before and the keys were much more sensitive.
If you are looking at $ as well as use you got a lot to look at, good luck.
Like I said before, my second one from the company worked great right outta the box. I know many haven't been as lucky though.
My Targus has no lag what so ever. As a matter of fact I was surprised how responsive it was. It is every bit as quick as my pc is when it comes to displaying my keyboard input. I do not know what your budget constraints are on this purchase, but you seem willing to pay a higher price if the product is truly superior. I have no regrets for the price I paid for my Targus as I feel it is worth every penny. If you are concerned with size I will admit the Targus has a slightly larger form factor than I would like, but the fact that it is so close to a real laptop keyboard wins that battle everytime.
Finally, I will say this. I have not seen in person either the Dell or Belkin keyboards but I can provide a couple of observations I have made during my search for a new keyboard.
1. Dell - Most posts I have seen are positive, however I do not believe(although I may be wrong) you can reuse the Dell keyboard with a different PDA. While we all love our Axims, some day something bigger better, etc. will come out. You have to decide if this will be an issue with you.
2. Belkin - I have seen a plethora of posts that seem to indicate a quality problem with the Belkin. Most people I have read show people getting fed up with the problems, however there may be more instances such as Bulldog describes above where it works well for them.
3. Targus - I have not seen any major negatives about the Targus posted. That is not to say it does not have things that it could change as noted in my post and others above. And, because of the fact that the Targus is an excellent product in the key areas I am willing to ignore some of the inadequacies it has.
To throw a wrench into it all though please remember that my comments regarding any keyboard aside from the Targus are based soley on what I have read on this message board.
Hope it helps more than it hurts...

People say that the Belkin uses mirrors which is bad, what does the targus use?
The main thing that is really putting me off is that stand. It makes it look as if the keyboard IS wired, with the belkin theres a separate stand and the keyboard can be a bit further away.
I guess thats the main thing that is putting me off. Size and portability.
All I see on the Targus is a single eye that looks like a small LED. The stand is connected and you would not be able to move it. But, It does have an adjustable angle that is pretty well varied.

I too have the Belkin and it works just fine with my X5 and X3i. However, as the others have mentioned, be prepared to get a dud unit. Probably the best way to deal with that is to get it at a place with no hassle returns/exchanges.
There is a Belkin coupon code (35491) for the Belkin site that gives 50% off all purchases. It was supposed to expire early January but there have been reports that it is good until the end of the month. You may want to check that out.

the targus uses an adjustable IR wand that can point the IR beam directly at the axim's IR port.

I find that the axim's screen is sufficiently small that I wouldn't want it to be too far away when I use it.

then don't get it. I've seen a lot more complaints about the quality of the belkin than about the targus. but as solid and well built as the targus keyboard is, it is bigger than the axim and probably bigger than most pockets (unless you wear cargo pants).
Just another question on the targus, I'm looking for a keyboard to take minutes in ameetings that last all day, will I be able to use the charger while the Ax is in the keyboard stand?

I believe the Dell one will. I am working on a power supply mod that will allow me to use my Targus in portrait mode with a power supply attached. Basically, I have a cheap travel charger I bought on ebay. I think I am going to cut the end off and try to replace it with a 90 degree angled low-profile connector.
