Belkin or Targus Keyboards?

These are the two keyboards I'm looking at for my Axim. Both seem well priced, and both have mixed reviews. I plan to do papers, exc. on my Axim. Which of these would you recommend?

i have only seen/tried the targus one and it looks good to me, look in the reviews area to see if any comments are there on either one of the keyboards

I have tried both, and would 100% say go with the Targus! The Belkins have had many problems with quality. I have recieved two, and both of them have had keys that didn't work. This problem has been seen by numerous people using the keyboard with all types of Pocket PC's.

In addition to the problems the Belkins have, the Targus is a really great keyboard. Much better quality than the Belkin. Very solid and well designed.

I just recently swapped someone my X5 Dell keyboard for a Belkin, when it arrived it didn't work on my Ax. I called Belkin and they promptly sent me a replacement. I just received it the other day and it works AWESOME. I can put it up to about 2' from my Ax. I like the size of it, it sits on my clipboard and my Ax is in a pocketsolutions car mount. I use it all day like that. I think I was lucky in receiving a quality unit from them though. They seem to be having a really bad time with quality control. Go for the Targus if you want a bigger KB that won't give you as much grief as you may have with the Belkin.

There are only 2 issues that I have with the Targus unit.

1. No cursor keys

2. Driver does not work well with some screen rotation software. Driver requires you to check an enable box which is below the viewable screen once the unit is reset. Unit has to be reset when you put it into landscape and the driver always defaults to disabled. This means that you can not use the keyboard with some landscape software.

I like the new Thinkoutside Stowaway IR keyboard. Getting really good reviews on various PPC sites. Seems similar to the Targus, but a little smaller (no mouse/pointer, etc.)

I just ordered one myself and am axiously awaiting delivery!

I just purchased the targus this past Sunday, and have found it to work VERY well as far as typing is concerned. I have yet to try to use it with screen rotation software so I can not give an opinion on that.

I am usually very picky about my keyboards, as I type on one all day and most nights, and the only major complaint I have is with the back space key. I would have prefered if Targus had made the back space key a bit larger and shrink some of the less-commonly used keys around it. On the flip side I would have to say this; I have had several IBM Thinkpads, and in my opinion the action on the Targus keyboard is very similar(This is a very good thing ). So if you are a thinkpad fan, as I am, you would enjoy this keyboard.

I am hesitant to rate anything without having used it for a considerable amount of time, but at this point I would say this keyboard is sitting around an 8 out of 10. While this keyboard will never hit a 10 because of that darn back space key(I make many typing mistakes) it could easily hit a 9.5 if it shows to have good battery life, and good compatibility with my applications.

So I guess I am saying, um, Targus is the way to go...

My suggestion would be to go with the Targus. I went through two Belkins in about a week and a half due to unresponsive keys. I've since been using the Targus and have not had one problem with it.

I'm looking to buy a wireless PDA Keyboard, and i've thought about the Belkin and the Targus, and i found them to be sold for $39.89 and $59.41.

Althought the Targus is about $20 more costly, i think i would like to purchase the Belking because:

It looks more compact
With the Targus the pda is like on a cradle, i want to have a bit of space and i can easily take the keyboard and fold it with my PDA, the Belkin seems ideal for taking around with you.

I also want to know:

Is there any keyboard lag with EITHER of the two keyboards? i.e. if you type fast, do u have to wait for the keys to slowly catchup with what u've written?

Please make me believe why i shouldnt buy the Belkin, i've read the thread but im still not convinced.

Here's another one to consider: http://www.thinkoutside.com/products...rared-ppc.html

It's a little newer than the other two you mentioned, but it has been getting great reviews from some PPC sites over the last couple of months.

I just got one for my X3i and am pretty pleased with it. No keyboard lag on it at all. Full sized keyboard. Only real drawback I found: no seperate number keys. I think they did this to keep the keyboard size down, while maintaining the full-sized keys.

Just more food for thought.
