I'd love to tell you how good my Mugen 3800 battery is, but over 3 weeks after ordering it, it still hasn't turned up. It's not due to After5PM, I hasten to add. It's down to the UK postal service. And they're going to hear from me on Monday...

I suspect that it won't handle the enhanced batteries, meaning
that I will go with the Mugen 2000 mAh unit. I realize reviews
say its fit was clunky, but I don't expect to move it in and out
very often.
I've got a Krussel and a 3800, and it will fit........just.......it's pretty tight and the holes for the buttons & speaker don't line up quite right, but I think if you get some of that "Shoe stretcher" spray or some baseball glove spray, it might do the trick.

Thanks for the advice Klaatu. Don't you worry about the
strain on your axim?
One thing I'm curious about with the Krusell case is if it
has enough protection on the edges. It looks like the top
corners could take a bang if it lands just right.
Actually, I very rarely use the Krussel, and only tested it with the 3800 a while back when someone asked the same question.
99.99999% of the time I just use the PocketSolutions CoverUp. I also have a DSI Holster which, of course, has no problem with the extended battery, except that you must remove it to put the Axim in it, and then reinstall the battery.

Good news! My battery finally arrived this morning after about 4 weeks of waiting. Turns out the delay was due to a) postal workers industrial action, and b) customs.
Klaatu suggested that I "Tromp in there and start yelling Ni!,Ni!,Ni!,Ni!". I'm glad I didn't; if I had they'd have called me a Ni!cad [groan!].
So how many of you charged your new Mugen for the full 12 hours?
And it says on the packaging: "Batteries should be initially charged and discharged 3-5 times to achieve stated capacity". I thought that wasn't necessary with LiIons. Oh well, they manufactured it; I guess they know best.

I have the Dell 3400 mAh battery and I use it with the DSI case. It's great for listening to mp3's with, I can expect dozens of hours of use with the screen turned off and my tunes coming through my headphones.
I still use my 1440 mAh battery when I'm on campus because I can use my Krussel case with it and keep my wireless card in one of the credit card slots.

LOL!!!........I like that!!!!
As for charging per specs........I do, I always do!..........saves having to tell a possible "half-truth" down the pike.............Why risk it? What's 4 hours (for a standard Dell batt).....or 12 hours, for a Mugen Extended?
Considering the life expectancy I expect from my Axim.......the wait is worth it.

I charged both of the Aximsite review batteries for 12 hours, just to be safe. Plus, you can just simply use your standard Dell battery while you're waiting those 12 hours of the initial Mugen Power battery charge. So as MrKlaatu said, why risk it? It's not like you won't be able to use your Axim while you're waiting.

I charged mine the full 12 hours, but I was confused about the "charged and discharged" part. The way I did it was to put the new battery on and leave my axim on until it shut itself off because of a low battery (it took forever). I know that the battery is not completely discharged at that point, but is that sufficient discharging? If not, what would work?
It's too late for mine if that is incorrect, but it would be interesting to know what is the right thing to do.
OK, it's now had the full 12-hour charge so I'm ready to go!
For people in the UK reading this, if you order one of these batteries from the States, you can expect to pay import duty (around the same rate as VAT) payable to the Customs, plus a £4 handling charge payable to the Royal Mail. In my case the total charge was $69.99 less $10.50 Aximsite discount plus $14 shipping, which translated to a total of £43.96. On top of this was the import duty of £6.08 plus the £4 handling charge, so the total I paid was £54.04. Comparing this to the cost of the Dell 'fat battery' in the UK, I got a bargain.

The "charged and discharged" part just simply means that you might not see the advertised capacities until it has been used and recharged 3 - 5 times. It doesn't mean that you have to do this before you can use the battery. Just simply that the more you use the battery, the better it will perform.
