Well, I think I worded my thoughts poorly. :)

I didn't mean that it will improve as it gets old. But rather that it will perform better after it has been used several times. Years down the road, however, it will likely be the same as with any battery.

would the mugen 2000 mAh battery still fit in the rhinoskin aluminum case? I'm way rough on my dell and that case has saved me a couple times. Although the 3800 would be nice I don't know if there are any hard cases to fit it. Are there?

You could use the rhino skin with the 2000 battery as it is the same size as Dell's 1440. So far, no hard cases that are form fitting will work with the 3800 battery. However, the Otterbox cases will work.
