Compusa has a good deal on Wifi Card
Hi
If anyone is interested in getting a Wifi card for your Dell Axim. I saw a good deal after rebate from Compusa in the Sunday papers. Ambicom's CF Wifi card for about 29.95 after rebates.
Does anyone know if this brand is good ?
:D

I'm not sure ab out their WiFi card, but I bought their 56K CF card and it's been great. (I see that's also on sale for a good price at CompUSA).
I'd take a chance on it if I had a place to get connected.

CompUSA - AmbiCom 1100C-CF
I purchased this unit (AmbiCom 1100C-CF) and I got it working in a few hours. If you purchase one, make sure you download the newest driver from AmbiCom's website.

CompUsa AmbiCom Card
I bought the card yesterday, and it works great, I had it working in about a half hour...The card is slim (unlike the goofy d-link), good on batteries, and certainly cost efficient.
I did not have to get any new drivers from Ambicoms site, i just loaded the driver on the disk, popped in the card, did not have to configure anything, the card recognized my network right away, and I was surfing the web in no time...
Great product, great buy....Get one :)

How's the Ambicom's range? I have the Truemobile card, but I'm not all that happy with it ... had to move my AP to get a signal in the room where I use it the most, and even then the signal isn't as strong as it should be. I'd spring for a different WiFi card if the price were right and it worked better than the Dell card.

well as for the range...I couldn't tell ya..I do not have an access point..my school has free wireless in most classes, and thats where I use it and it has performed perfectly.
Just to give you an idea, I live in an apartment complex, and someone in the complex has a router, and I know for a fact it is not the floor above or below me, I am in the middle of a 3 story, so it must be another building....
And I get signal anywhere from 50-89% depending on which room I am in..
Hope this helps
Louie

Different mfg. part #?
The Ambicom card was out of stock at CompUSA when I last checked, so I ordered it from eCost.com for $57.17 -- it's on its way to me now.
Except I just discovered that the part # of the card I ordered is different from the one shown on Ambicom's site. The card shown there (and the one this thread refers to, I think) is WL1100C-CF; the one I ordered from eCost is WL1100B-CF.
Anyone know what the difference is? Did I order an older or less powerful version?? :rolling:
