Cool Axim won't connect to modem (cell phone)

I am trying to connect to an ISP by using my Nextel as a modem. I am connecting the Nextel to the Axim via a ComCube type connector. When I try to connect I get a long error that says "There is no modem at the number dialed..."

The kicker is that I get this error regardless of whether the cable is attached to the Axim or not. I know the dial-in number works. I have gone through the connection settings dozens of times. I have entered the command string recommended by Nextel. I have been on the phone with Dell for 78 minutes. All to no avail.

I even tried connecting via a new Axim X5 running Pocket PC2003 instead of 2002. Still got the same error!

I am completely frustrated. Any detailed help would be great!

Easiest things first, have you unchecked the wait for dial-tone box?

I know the supplynet cable works.

www.thesupplynet.com. Includes auto charging charging cable.

Yes, I unchecked the "Wait for dial tone before dialing" box. Here's some more details on the settings;

Hayes Compatible on COM1
19200 Baud Rate (set phone to same)
8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, hardware flow control
Port settings - Use server-assigned IP address selected
No other port settings checked
Use server-assigned addresses
Extra dial-string "ATZ0&C1&D2&K3"

Country code = 1
Area code and number per my local ISP.

Hope this helps!
