CF Camera: Veo vs. IA Style

Hi guys,

After an hour of searching around the forum for a decent CF Camera to buy, i've come to two reasonable quality cameras under $100 ($100 is the max i can afford).

The Veo Photo Traveller
OR
IA Style Digital CF Camera

I've read lots of reviews about the Veo, but i hear that it takes a while to save shots, bad focusing etc.

Can anyone tell me which one i should buy?

I'm pretty much looking for something that can take reasonable quick snaps and save video (i have a 256mb Sandisk card and im using the X5).

Now im debating between the two.

Please give me ur input.

I was thinking of that too now...that IA Style is unheard of (or i've never heard of the company before)

Do u know any reliable online vendor that sells it cheaply ?

I have the Veo Photo traveler. And I can safely say don't buy it for 100.00 It's still to overpriced and picture quality sucks. I had a Kodak digital camera that died so I thought why not buy this for my Axim. I found it open box for around 50 or 60.dollars at techforless.com. The video quality is not bad but Audio with the movie is alittle distorted.

I found this camera at compusa and I bought it its the best of the cheap digital camera and digital camcorder all in one and very tiny! It takes great photo's and great video's and it's only limited to how big your CF card is.

http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...459&pfp=BROWSE

Also you can't just pop it in the Axim and watch your movie's you have to re encode it to mgeg or wmv for viewing on the axim.
I use Windows media encoder to encode my movies using the Ipac template and they're very good and the sound is perfect I now have to turn the volume down its to loud. I even did a video of my favorite show and it came out really nice.

I added a link to the page at compusa I hope it works. Also try the manufacturers' site: If it doesn't work look for it under camera's.

I've got a FlyCam with Flash, and for what it is, it does a fine job. If you want quality pix, get a dedicated DigiCam.

The IA Utilities come with the camera, or you can download them through the download section at LifeView.

With the utilities, you don't have to rencode videos to view them on your Axim, but you will to view them anywhere else. On your Axim, you use the IA Album or Video eMail utility to view them.

Personally, I like mine a lot...other than I had to buy a Mugen 3800 Extended Battery to use it for more than an hour or so. With the Mugen, it's very difficult to run it down.

I think I got more value from my Mugen than I do the FlyCam, but I don't take too many pix, it's just nice to have it on-hand. My Axim and accessories go everywhere I do.........my DigiCam doesn't.

thanks for your input guys, now its down to the Veo and the FlyCAM CF Card.

MrKlaatu,

could u please post some pix that u have taken with ur cam ?
On the page u mentioned for the flycam, they show three different models, i know one of them is flash but what are the other two?

Also, where did u buy it from and what price? Is the Flash actually helpful?

I might buy the flycam...if i get it down to a mightly cheap price, but i would like to see the quality of it first.

Thanks

-Shak

Also, what is the video quality like and how big is it?

Im thinking of getting that cam, but i would like to see some sample pix first, i've never seen some with the cam that had flash...

Does it support SD Cards? If so, how fast does it save them on? (i have a 256MB Sandisk). How many minutes of video can u capture and does it play at a smooth frame rate?

I found PROVANTAGE.com selling it for $140.

Please reply

Folks...this is really odd...

I found out that the part number for that lifecam-cf card with flash is 702217807000 and then on another site i found it said 702217807000 ! then when i googled that number, i found the same product !

also, when u go to provantage.com and search for "702217807000" you get a picture of the normal FlyCAM-CF Card but its priced at $140! but it says "FlyCAM-CF 1.3MP w/Flash" which must mean its the right one...

Im confused now...and i cant find a cheap reliable vendor.

MrKlaatu! please reply! I want to know where u bought ur card.

Sorry..........

I bought mine direct from LifeViewUSA, the total came to $201. I'm pretty sure I got overnight delivery (2nd day, at the least), so you can probably take $40 or $50 off for S&H.

I don't remember the transacton details, I just pulled this from my Credit Card invoice.

As for pix, right now I'm on dial-up at work and I take the Superfine 1024 X 1280 pix which end up being over 3 Megs apiece.

When I get home in a few hours I'll mess around with a couple in PhotoShop to get them to a postable size with links to the fullsize pics.

Thanks for replying !

Could u also answer all those questions i posted on the FlyCAM above?

The flash that comes with it, does it really eat up the battery ? How can u set it when to use flash and when not to?

i plan on buying it from here:

.Click Me!

I've heard good reseller ratings from there and the product only costs about $140 + $10 shipping
