I have both Dell TB and the foldable one. The TB is great when traveling on the bus or any place where there is no room for foldable.
I like foldable bacause I use my X5 as my laptop computer. I use it most when I surf the net wirelessly.

Hi,
I recieved a dell thumbboard from a friend and was told that it would work with my axim x5. Looks like the one in the picture but, when I snap it on the bottom I can't get any letters to type on the PDA in the Word program or any other program at that. Is there any software required to make this thing work? Where would I find that software?
Thanks a bunch,

Are they keys plastic or rubber? Do they make a click when you press them? My concern is that using it in a quiet environment would cause a disturbance from the clicking of the keys. Any beef there?

The keys are plastic, and you can set the Axim up to type silently, or with the click sounds.

My Keyboard won't work
I have a dell model G3LO-001 PN )x385. It attaches to the bottom of the unit for use as a thumb pad. Is this model compatible with the X5 or do I need to get any drivers?

U need to download a driver
You'll need to download a driver from Dell. Mine came with a CD for installation, but I had some problems getting the keyboard to work at first. I found a newer driver on the Dell website although I'm not sure that made it start working. It finally started working but only after I powered the unit off, popped on the keyboard, and powered the unit up after installation. Since then it works fine if I just pop it on with the unit on. But in any case you can download what you need here:

I bought the thumb keyboard from Dell for about $25 and to tell you the truth, I rarely use it. Mostof the work I do is on the PC, and when I do need to write emails, I usually keep them really short. I guess I thought that my Dell PDA would replace my PC (the way that my Newton Apple did), but the screen is just too small..\And with the thumb keyboard, using the screen horizontally really isn't an option , is it....
