Does it work with the Dell Serial cable connected to the Axim?

and which software do you use?

It will work. Here is my link to show it can. Click on the ebay link to show some lower cost cables to connect your model Garmin. One this to consider is to get a GPS Combo cable. This allows serial connectivity AND DC power. Also one this I purchased was a DC adapter for the Axim that uses the power plug, NOT the lower proprietary plug. You need the lower proprietary plug for the serial cable connection.

Now it would be great IF someone made a Axim serial cable that had a way to connect power to the Axim using the same serial cable. Maybe just a power port in the middle of the cable or near the inline box in the middle of the cable.

As far as Software, I use Mapopolis. It is quick and detail and function depend on the level of map you pruchase. You can also use Pocket Streets although I have no used it so no idea of its usefulness.
