I'm a little confused by your question about the sync cable, though. You can't have the sync cable attached while the Axim is attached to the keyboard -- they use the same connector on the Axim, and the keyboard does not pass that connector through, unlike the power supply.
|
Yeah, I meant like a pass-through from the keyboard to the PC, for the sync. No worries, though, I ordered another sync cable to use at work.
My main setup is at home with my PC. Currently I don't sync to work (we use Groupwise, and from experience, Outlook does NOT work well with Groupwise). However, I'd like to be able to sync files, so will just do that at work. I'll only do that occasionally anyway. Having it on the keyboard and hooked up to power is my main concern. :)
Thanks.

Funny that you should mention that, as a PPC/Groupwise solution came availble this week HERE .

Axim keyboard with innopocket case?
Anyone know if the innopocket aluminum case can be left on and use the keyboard at the same time?
What about how easy it is or is not to remove the awesome axim from the innopocket?

I really don't, but I know that wouldn't be as good to have, the Axim is perfectly centered on the Dell Keyboard, and a metal case hanging over one side... I don't know, it seems like it might get in the way and make the entire setup more awkward, but I wouldn't use an aluminum case anyway, for this reason:
1) say you drop your axim a short distance, and it hits the ground, the casing itself has slight give, so gets off without major damage
2) say you drop it in an aluminum case, which holds it rigidly in place, the only movable part in the entire device when in the case then is the screen... you ever drop the axim in a metal case, your screen is toast.
Well, I'm not positive about that with the innopocket, but I hear that's the case for hardcases in general.

Cool thanks, I'll pass that on to our LAN guys. :) At least 3 peeps I work with now have PPCs, and more say they want them.

Dell Keyboard Rocks
I used to have a Handspring Visor and used the Stowaway keyboard and thought that was awesome. Then I bought an IPAQ and could not get a keyboard that I liked that was reasoable until the Stowaway came out with that and it worked well. Now I got the Dell Axim and the Dell keyboard is great, just as good as my Stowaway was, it was well worth the wait. I go to college for accounting and use my Dell for notes in class and for doing homework and the keyboard works great. So if anybody who goes to school needs any information about this feel free to ask. Oh by the way I also use TextMaker so that all my notes look the same on my Dell and on my home computer, or my laptop for school as well.

Really? I tried Text Maker, but the screen redraw was so slow that using it was totally useless to me. I find that it redraws the screen if I stay under about 60 words per minute... but any faster than that it lags... have you found the smae problem? If not... please give me a rundown of your system, what you have installed etc.

Uses for keyboard
I have a couple of reasons why I would want to buy a portable keyboard such as writing up documents, etc. What do you guys use it for? I'm still debating whether it's worth the money. I can't seem to justify the $100 to myself since I can always use my PC which obviously has a larger screen and more ergonomic keyboard.

Excellent keyboard! I used to use a GoType keyboard on my Palm IIIC...is was a good keyboard but very large (it did not fold up).
This folds up real nicely....super portable!
Shift key location doesn't bother me.

Hmm... as for me, I use it in a number of ways:
1) writing documents on planes, or away from home, easier than lugging a notebook for simple typing
2) notes
3) I use it for bible-materials portably also, with the ability to search etc. using the keyboard.
4) if you're at your desk, even just using the keys to navigate around the OS is a lot nicer, and faster, than using it in your hand a lot of the time.
Things like eBooks, etc.
But the main reason would be portability, I carry around my axim in sena, and keyboard in both of my pants pockets, and have it whenever I need it.
if you're in a situation where it's always easy to use your PC, then I wouldn't get it, but you'd be surprised how much you can actualyl use it if you need to work on writing something, and have some time to kill away from home.

Axim keyboard totally useful and quick
Using the Axim w/ the portable keyboard is way cool and fast. Powering up a notebook takes so much time, and with the Axim, click it on and rock. This saves time. Also can get much work done s/a e-mail correspondence, quick memos, client call reports etc and then transfer to laptop or mainframe next day. Huge on productivity

I too will second all the praise thrown at the Dell Keyboard. It definately has all the perks.
Does anyone else that owns the keyboard wish it had a hotkey for the 'new' function. I use it to enter transactions into MS Pocket Money a lot, and I have to use the stylus to creat a new entry every time. Would be great to be able to use the keyboard somehow to make a new entry....
Anyone have any thoughts?

Here is a cool and free program athat adds Control (Ctrl) functions to Pocket Word while using an external keyboard. IT's called WordCommands and you can find it at
http://www.lagorio.net/pocketpc/wordcommand/
It's a great little program and like I said it's free.

That WordCommands link is actually incorrect (missing an "s" at the end")
Here is the real deal
