I was a Visor/Stowaway lover in the past. Now I have my Axim and Dell Foldable Keyboard (with WordCommands installed). I LOVE THEM!!
The Dell keyboard takes a little time to get used to, as the keyboard is sort of compact, but after a couple of days of playing around I was very impressed.
Build quality of keyboard is good and the simplicity of the design is really nice.
I highly recommend it to any Axim user.

Gotta love reactions to the keyboard, it's usually resulted in "Hey, where did that come from?!"
when I manage to whip the setup out in about 10 seconds, without any bags of any kind with me :D

Dell Keyboard Took 6 Weeks But is Sweet!!
Glad to see others have posted on the Dell Keyboard. It took Dell nearly 6 weeks to ship this thing to me !! It's the truth. Anyhow, I just rode my bike an hour in the snow today (it's Canada!! :hide: ) and picked it up from Purolator. I had no idea it would be so sweet. Looks awesome. Great little design. I had a palm m500 keyboard, which was bigger and quite nice too. I like the way this keyboard holds the ax, and the fact that you don't need to be on a desk with it. It's compact as all heck. Very slick mechanism on it. I would say that the only cons I have are 1) made in China. (human rights), 2) I'm not nuts about the feel of the keys, that is, the responsiveness (this is a matter of personal taste). 3) It should have a little pouch to pop it in. I'm afaid that the little aluminum plate with the Dell logo could get bent or scratched. I don't think this thing looks quite as bomb proof as the Palm case I had. Overall though, I think you could write an encyclopedia on this unit with this keyboard. Totally worth the $189 Canadian I paid (shipping and taxes in). Anyhow, I'm sure 3rd party makers will take a look at this thing and make something even better. Until that happens, this puppy will be the envy of your friends, neighbours, and maybe your wife will even be amused for a couple of seconds, if you have one still, and if you're old enough and a dude. :crooked:

Well, my husband envys mine. :) I got mine yesterday, and it's slick. I love how it unfolds quickly. It looks great on my desk. I use it for work notes and personal things while I'm typing at my work PC.
I agree a nice little pouch would be great for it, something with a drawstring (and maybe some pastel flowers on the outside ;)). I've been keeping mine in the bubblewrap that it came in until such time as I find something better.
Now to learn how to set some hotkeys, and how to navigate better with it. Should be fun. :)

I have the Dell foldable keyboard, which I like a lot but I'm wondering if there is a way to turn off the 'screen tap' keyboard. I know you can close it temporarily by tapping on the icon in the lower right corner but when I'm entering information in a form (such as on various web pages), each time you move to another field, the screen keyboard reopens, concealing a third of the page. It seems like I saw an option for disabling this keyboard (not just switching to the recognizers or transcribers) but I cannot find it again. Any help is appreciated.
As for the Groupwise discussion above, I use Intellisync ( www.pumatech.com) at work with Groupwise and ActiveSync here at home with Outlook. I do not actually synchronize email in either place, but the setup works great for updating the calendar, both on the Axim and the two desktops. I had trouble initially keeping the two partnerships working, but adding IP Manager (from www.kelbran.com) allows me to keep these working very well using a Socket CF card (RJ45 ‘hardwired’) connection at work and either the same card or a SMC WiFi CF card at home. I’ve only used my USB cable once in the past month and that was to install the drivers for the WiFi card.

I'd like to know this too... it's annoying to have it popup when I just want to use the foldable keyboard. I have put the option to transcriber... but then sometimes if I do need to tap the screen, it recognizes it as a transcriber mark. :crooked:

What you need is the ZeNoKeyboard. It's free, and all it does is prevent any kind of keyboard -- character recognizer, block recognizer, etc. -- from popping up. You just pick it out of the list, and as long as it's selected, nothing you do will make a keyboard pop up.

Well, like the rest of the parts of the Axim, the keyboards are actaully just contracted out from various companies. I don't remembe rwhoe makes it, but I know this is true since they sell the same exact kind of keyboard now for the new iPaqs, as well as the stowaway, through HPs website.
However, you can't beat the stylish dell logo and color scheme you get with the Dell Flavor, it looks just like their laptops :)

When typing in PocketWord and a word pops up from the Word Completion feature, how do you select and enter it with the keyboard? I can't figure out a way to do it without the stylus, and that defeats the purpose of speedy keyboard entry.

I type a lot faster than I could pick a word out of a list, so I turn off the word completion stuff. (Actually, I hate it nattering at me when I'm using one of the on-screen input methods, too, so I just leave it off all the time.)

If not... please give me a rundown of your system, what you have installed etc.

We have been able to work around the ill-designed Dell keyboard driver. Check out this:

Dude, you're gettin' a Belkin!
got my Dell keyboard last week, except for the placement of the up arrow key, I am VERY happy (it should really be to the right of the shift key).
I was quite surprised to see it is almost indentical to the Belkin keyboard for the Toshiba e740, replace the Dell dewdrop with the Belkin oval, change the connector, and viola!
Much as the stowaway and pocket innovation keyboards are also multi-branded.
