Flip open covers?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any other flip open covers to Axim, I want hard metal and i don't want it to be a case.

The only one I found was:

http://www.thepocketsolution.com/mer...roduct_Count=4

Any help and feedback on experience with these types would be greatly appriciated. I also don't want the side flipopen but the top flip.

Tim,

I just purchased the pocketsolutions case and have had it for a little over one week. It has received some fairly mediocre reviews but is exactly what is promised.

It's a slim flip cover that works much like the cover of the Palm III's. The picture on the website makes it look slightly prettier than it really is but it looks like it belongs (and more importantly, works well) with the Axim. There is only one hinge on the back so it doesn't fold over all the way but this has actually worked out well for me so far. The cover acts like a stand when open so the unit is tilted when the cover is open on the table.

It is a little hard to access the compact flash port with the cover in place but the velcro tab that holds it on is easy enough to remove. All of the other ports (active synch, IR, headphone, SD) ports are accessible with the cover in place. All in all worth the price.

Also

Thanks, how is it for keeping in your pocket also? I want something that I can keep in my pocket without one of those massive leather cases.

Pocket Solution Cover-Up

I ordered a Cover-Up from Pocket Solutions and returned it because it really didn't fit and work the way I expected. Overall the Cover-Up is a great idea. I too wanted a flip cover like my Palm IIIc. I thought the Cover-Up would work the same way but it did not. First, it doesn’t flip all they way back so you can use the CF slot. You have to remove the cover completely to insert anything into the CF slot. Second, it was too tight and it didn’t close flat like the website showed. Third, I don’t like Velcro and anything I have to stick on my Axim. I know I am too picky but this cover just didn’t meet my needs. I am hoping the Sena cover I ordered will meet my needs.

I agree that the cover on the Palm III's was smoother but it didn't fold back all the way either. I also agree that this new one is not the prettiest thing.

This cover is in no way a "case" and provide little protection except from direct blows to the screen. There is pressure from the foam on the screen but as far as I can tell it is well distributed with the brunt of it falling on two small rubber feet near the bottom.

Basically I needed something small enough to keep it in my shirt pocket (scrubs really ;) ) and protect the screen from incidental trauma. It does that well enough.

There is no protection from falls, spills or the like. Considering my track record with 3 Palm III's, 2 Visor Plats and a Visor Prism, I should have waited for one of the new alum cases coming out as I don't mind the side-opening idea.

What's really annoying is that the PocketSolution case would have been fine with 2 hinges (like a palm) instead of one. But you can't set the darn thing flat on a desk with the single-hinged cover.

Rugged Cases

I know there only a few rugged metal cases for the Axim but has anyone tried the Sauders Rhino Skin Axim metal case? It doesn’t flip up but it looks like it provides the protection some users may need.

For information on the Rhio Skin case:

lol... I have one of the sena cases, and it's the farthest from massibe I can think of... with a few cards etc. stored in the flip cover, as well as the hard mirror (basically just a hard plate in the size of the screen, I have the shiny side face-down actaully...) but it adds less than 1/3rd of an inch to the form factor of the Axim, and offers padding for somethign like a fall, for example. the metal cases, full cases,a re often worse as not only do they not allow padding/shock absorbing, they actually direct MORE pressure to the screen in a fall... but they're better for protecting against bumps and scratches... I dunno... the leather case I like myself.

axim covers

I just got a pocketsolutions aluminum cover and I think it is going to work great for me. It fits easily into my pocket, and opens and closes fairly well. The head phone slot it easily accessible, stylus is easily accessible while the case is closed, and I haven't tried the CF slot I was very careful in positioning it because I wanted it to stay closed, and I didn't want it to stick to the extra battery cover. In conclusion I am very happy and would recommend it. But this is my first pda. So......

(wish I would of saw that other aluminum case, but it is sold out now) Oh well...

I like the Rhino case. Unfortunately, it is currently out of stock as of today, Saturday March 8.

Flip open Covers?

Talexander,

I have the Pocketsolutions cover for about a month now. It worked great for about 2 weeks then the velcro attachment started to loosen to the point it won't attach anymore! I'm pretty upset by the cheapness of the velcro. IMHO stay away from this product...
