I am not sure either but if the Axim is like the Dell Jukebox then it won't charge through the USB cable if the battery is below 25% of capacity. Above that then the Jukebox can be charged through the USB cable. Perhaps the Axim behaves the same way. I haven't found that in the manual or in the Help file. But it might be the case given your experience.

Hey everyone,
I'm new to this site so please bear with me. I'm thinking of upgrading my Palm 3e. I saw a co-workers pda and asked her what brand it was She said it was an axim x5 but she doesn't like it cause it's too heavy and she really doesn't need all the "extras" it has( she really wants just a phone/datebook). Anyway she said she'd sell it for $75.00us and brought it in so I could try it over the weekend to see if I like it but she couldn't find the cradle/ac adapter She had the usb sync cable but that doesnt seem to charge it as the battery is at 0% charge. my question is this: Is there a different commonly used ac adapter anyone can think of that has approximatly the same voltage/amperage output( such as a phone charger or tool charger) just to get it up and running over the weekend so I can play around with thi new toy? If not are there any walk-in stores where I can find something compatible?(I tried radio Shack, nothing). It seems I'm just a little impatient.
Thanks for putting up with a newby.

The iPaq adapters (at least the ones that fit the models from the last couple of years) have the same adapter post and are just slightly lower on volts (5 vs. 5.4) and amps (2 vs 2.4). I've used my 2215 and X5 adapters interchangably between the two devices without any problem.

iPaq accessories can be found at most computer and electronic stores.

I think using a hub is the only way to go ! I had my x50v hooked
up to my Dell PC using the sync/charge cable and my USB ports
seem to have blown !! Lucky this is my PC at work - they are under
Dell warranty and should be fixed.

I would suggetst tha no one use the sync/charge cable directly
with their computers.
