Hmm Krusell case ordered from Moonlight Technology

I originally ordered the Krusell case from Moonlight Technology because their web site gave the impression that the case was in stock and available immediately. After two weeks and no case, I suspicioned that they, too, had the cases on backorder (like every other supplier) and since I'd ordered another case available sooner, I tried to cancel my order with Moonlight. Let Mike of the Moonlight Sales staff speak for himself:

"These are on Preorder until April 7th when they are due in. I would recommmend that you keep this order if you need this case for two reasons. First one being that you won't be able to get this case from anyone else as they are waiting the same way we are... Especially at this price. Second, we underestimated the popularity of these cases and honestly if you cancel now and reorder when they come in they will be all sold out by then. I suggest that you keep your order so you get one of the cases that arrive on April 7th."

What arrogance! As if this were the only leather case out there and they are the only supplier!

It took two additional emails before I was able to get them to admit they could cancel my order.

By the way, I still could not find anywhere on their web site stating the case was backordered. And going through my email, they never notified me, either. But they certainly charged my credit card fast enough.

<sigh> Will I be stuck using the dorky Dell case forever????

Their web site now has disclaimer

Just went out to their web site: http://www.moonlight-tech.com/index.asp. It now has a disclaimer with a link stating, "Pre-Order Krussell. Shipping 4/7/03."

Has anyone else ordered from them? I was wondering about that $10 hotsync cable they have.

Thanks
Randy:love:

I have the hot sync cable. It arrived two days after I ordered it via USPS. Decent quality and it works great.

I bought their usb sync cable on eBay. The cables are constantly being auctioned...I got mine for $6.50 plus shipping. Moonlight was prompt in shipping out the cable...haven't used the cable yet though.

Thanks for the quick replies. Is there any danger with "recharging" over the USB port?

The only danger I have found is it only recharges at 55% and better. YMMV.

Also when recharging via USB, turn off the Axim. Once it reaches 90%, I would say it is safe to leave it on (or untill the green light shines).

The problem is either voltage or amperage. The Dell power block is:
5.4V 2410 mA
USB is:
5.0V 500mA

There have been many claims of the voltage but I think its an amperage problem.

Normal circuitry will tolerate a 10% above or below voltage and usually more. You see the amperage is almost 5X more with the Dell power block.

I think that once the charging circuitry and the battery falls below a threshold or power (voltage x amperage) that the USB line keeps the circuit open and the battery actually begins to drain. I have seen it and if you get a USB charging cable, you will too if you try it.

Try this link for a charging circuit. I don't mean that it is a direct application of the charging BUT it does state the USB specifications as far as voltage and amperage.

Big Smile

I have their USB cable and have been extremely pleased with it. My primary reason for buying it wasn't the charging capability, but the ability to sync without having to carry that big ole cradle around. Of course, I'll have to carry around an extra adaptor to do the charging with, but I don't mind.

I place my order Tuesday night as well. Just one question though, do they send an e-mail for product shipping? Or am I going to have to call them to get any info whatsoever? I hope that I did not make a mistake by going through them just for the good price...

Just got Krussell Case Today

Pre-Order case beginning of March, noted that shipment wouldn't be until April 7th. Just got case today. Very nice leather, access to all buttons, CF, and SD card slots. Also can use control on side, record button and reset. Bottom of case has opening for power cable and connector. Only problem that I can see now is difficult to turn on power button while in case useless you use stylus. Otherwise looks like a great buy.:D
