CF Wirless Card for X5

I'm looking at two different CF Wirless Cards for my X5 as noted below.

SanDisk Connect Plus 128MB + 802.11b WiFi CompactFlash Card - $34.

Symbol Compact Flash CF WiFi Wireless Card LA-4137 NEW $35.

I like the Sandisk idea because of the additional 128 meg storage, but I understand this make card may not work with an X5.

I'd appreciate hearing any opinions/experiences.

Thanks,
Rick

Ebay has them for around $20-$30.

Wireless Card

I just got my X5 recently and based on this site got the Symbol WiFi card off of eBay. Works like a charm!

Works 4 Me

Hi Rick,
I am posting this with my new X5 and SanDisk CF128/Wireless. I got the X5 3 weeks ago from geeks.com ($180) and then got the wireless card last week ($35). After I ordered the card, I came here and started reading about the problems. Don't know if I'm just lucky or if they have fixed them. I'm running Win03 and the latest CF patch from Dell. Wireless is awesome and the storage works also (but I don't trust it yet since many have had problems. I moved from an old Sony Clie so this is a Cadillac to me. Good Luck.

Yes, WiFi works with the Sandisk combo card, but you have to remove and re-insert the card in each time you turn on your PDA. This can destroy your CF slot over time. And yes, don't trust the storage space.

I upgraded from a Casio EM-500. All around good PPC, but was a bit slow. :)

FYI, the SanDisk is featured on WOOT today -- $19. Curious if anyone got this to work on the X5 w/2003 without workarounds.

No, it is not compatible. Only get this card if your PDA is NOT an X5. Otherwise, this one is both compatible with PPC2003 and cheap: http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/deta...=email,ECOSTPG

Having Problems Now

Well, the storage bug has arrived. Oh well, the wireless part works great and I don't use it too much so I'll be careful with the connector.

Everyone seems to really favor the Symbol WCF card. I purchased a Linksys WCF12 (used) and could not get it to work from the get go. I have since returned the card and I am waiting for my refund but while I had the card I installed all the latest drivers for it that I downloaded off of Linksys's website and all the card would do is blink one time and then my Axim would prompt me to type in a name for the unrecognized card. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers a million times and I removed and reinserted the card a million times and so a long story short it just would not work. Now call me crazy but I ordered another Linksys WCF12 card (brand new this time) just this past weekend from Ecost for about $32 (shipping was free on anything over $25 but they tac on an additional $3.95 for handling) so we will see how that works out. If I still have problems with the Linksys WCF12 then I will go with Symbol. I should have just went with them anyway but I am a diehard Linksys supporter. Anyone have any input on the Linksys WCF12? Any info would be helpful...thanks.

I never liked Linksys cards for my PC and I I expect the same poor proformace from the CF card, so i'm thinking about going with symbol if I can find out where they are sold at.

The Linksys WCF12 worked great with PPC2002 but requires a workaround for WM2003. Some people have also used the Belkin drivers successfully so you might try that as well. Here's useful link:
