Bellagio Case Review w/ Pics!

Case: Bellagio w/ Clip For Dell Axim

http://www.bellagiodesigns.com/Lista...ategoria_3=21&

----------------------------------------------------
Overall Rating - Ehh Not Bad, Not Great
----------------------------------------------------

The details:

Pretty prompt delivery, ordered the case late Saturday night, they confirmed the order Sunday and shipped Monday. FedEx came today (after leaving my package in the Philadelphia sort facility for a full 24 hours).

The leather is nice, very smooth, not shiny (smells like real leather so it must be real! ;)) My case did come with a few scratches on it I thought maybe I got a return but after inspecting the "button" (I will go into detail later) I realized I had not.

Getting to your ports, buttons, and other axim features. You can get to it all friends, reset button, switch above the reset button that I don’t know what its for, SD card, and even the compact flash area is cutout. Stylus comes out with no problems, and the ports on the bottom if you aren’t using the cradle are cut out...

Which brings me to the first "feature" of this case....

You "CAN" put your Axim in the cradle with the case on!!! This feature could have been a little better done. Basically it looks like they bent the back of the case so you can flip it back and slide the Axim in the cradle. It isn’t a smooth fit either, the bent back of the case pushes the Axim forward a bit, but it does get into the cradle and hotsync/charge. That’s the first thing I don’t like about the case, how the cradle ready feature was made.

Now to the second thing I don’t like --> the magnetic button. If you can finally get it closed (it takes a few practice runs) DONT SNEEZE because it will unbutton itself. The magnetic button is very very weak, and I am not a fan. This is by far the biggest CON against this case.

Finally the clip... there are alot of bad clips out here, I don’t even know why I ordered the one with the clip I don’t plan to clip it to me (im a nerd, but not that big of a nerd). I guess I may one day? Anyhow I wouldn’t trust this clip with my dirty underwear. Its plastic and has a little pin going through it holding it together. It spells disaster and lost Axim. Not only that its a knob on the back that you cant remove if you don’t want to clip it, its not huge, but noticeable.

So.. I am going to keep the case, for the price its decent. I have a krussel backordered through executivepda.com when that comes I may ebay this or keep it as a backup. I hope everyone finds this useful in making their own case decision.

Happy Hunting

The case doesn't look too bad.

It is unfortunate about the clip though. They should not put a clip on a case intended for expensive electronics if the clip isn't very secure. In the summer I oftentimes wear shirts without pockets so if I'm going to carry the Ax, (and why have it if you're not going to carry it), I will have to clip it to my belt.

I wish you hadn't posted that iPAQ picture. It sure makes the Axim look like a porker. It's already a tight fit in some of my shirtpockets without a case. With a case it may not fit.

I agree that the clip on the Bellagio case is a bit weak. While the peice sticking out of the case is metal, the clip itself is all plastic. It is very similar to the Duro~Clip shown
here. (It might even be the exact clip that Bellagio Designs uses)

The clip.com website states:
"The Duro~Clip™ works well for small very light devices. The design of the Duro~Clip™ locks the tab into the belt clip until the release tab is pushed. The tabs for the Duro~Clip™ are not interchangeable with any of our other type Swivel Clips™."

I don't think the axim is neither very small nor very light. I still love my Bellagio case, but I wish they had included a better swivel clip.

You can order it without the clip FYI.

I just made the mistake of ordering it with.

Good looking case. I'm so used to taking mine out of my case to sync that's like second nature now.

Clip is Sturdy

I have a bellagio case and I personally like it better than all others. The clip is rated to withstand up to 120 lbs of force in any direction. I have had it pulled on by much more than the weight of the Axim and it holds up wonderfully. The synching feature is wonderful. It is not inconvienent and it doesn't look funny. The clip is magnetic but that does not cause any problems. It is a very weak magnet but that is not a bad thing. It may seem a little hard to use a first but the snap is quite simple once you get used to it. I love this case and would never give it up. Please don't be discouraged. This is one of the best add-ons I have bought for any handheld.

Im selling the bellagio case I decided. I just like the krussel better.

If anyone from the boards wants to buy it before I ebay it shoot me a e-mail. The case has never left my desk from when I took the pictures in the review.

20 + 3-4$ shipping, paypal/money order.

Thanks
Zach

Not Crazy about it either. The bottom straps looks like a cheap hookers crotch less bottoms, just my thought.

If the leather went fully across the bottom it doesn't look like it would easily fit in the cradle due to the raised lip on the front of the cradle ..
