Peoplepc and Axim

Anyone know if I can access Peoplepc through a modem on my Axim? Peoplepc is of no value here. Typically one would download some peoplepc dialing software onto the desktop. Can I replicate the connection settings and get access through Peoplepc?

I would appreciate any help here.

You probably won't be able to install the PeoplePc software, because I doubt they have a PPC version. However, if you have a CF dialup modem, you should be able to connect using your user name, password, DNS addresses and local access number - just like setting up a Dialup Networking connection on a desktop.

On the Axim, go to Start -> Settings -> Connections tab and then tap on Connections to open it. Tap on the Modify button, then tap on New. Tap on Advanced and then Name Servers to enter the DNS, then tap ok and follow the rest of the screens. Make sure you dont enter the area code and country code unless you need to dial it for local calls.

To connect, go to Start -> Settings -> Connections tab, then tap on Connections and hit Connect. You will see a little symbol in the bottom right corner of the bottom bar on the Today Screen when you are in. You can tap on that to disconnect again.

If you have trouble connecting, make sure the CF card and phone cord are plugged in tightly and go to Start ->Settings -> Connections Tab -> Connections -> Dialing Locations and make sure it's set to Tone with nothing in the Area code and County code boxes. You can also check Disable Call Waiting if you have that. Tap Dialing Patterns and set them all to G.

If you need your connection info, People PC should be able to give it to you.

Good luck!

:)
