The arkon mount is nice, but it won't work witht the Pharos GPS. I believe it works with the Holux, which is what I have on order now. I am sending my Pharos back. The Ostia software stinks in comparison to Mapopolis and the voice never seems to work on it either.
With the arkon mount I can hear the sound from the Axim top down, at least music. I'll find out about the GPS this next week when the Holux comes in.
I just wish the arkon mount came with a gooseneck that could connect to my passenger seat bolt. The gooseneck on the windshield is nice, but a little awkward looking in my roadster.
If anyone has a suggestion to mount the arkon unit to the seat let me know.

My first impressions of the Holux and Routis is excellant. Good sound, but hard to hear for my ears in the Jeep; thus the reason for the extra speakers. I almost got the Pharos, but Dell told me that there was a 2-week lead time on it so I ordered the Routis package from Deluo. Of course the Pharos came anyways on the same day as the Deluo order! I'm just waiting for my return sticker to send Dell their package back!

Interesting about the Axim and the GPS. I use my Garmin eTrex Vista and my laptop, it works pretty good, but I wish it gave me voice prompts.

I'm late again...
I know this is late, but in my work truck, I use one of those stupid portable CD player to tape deck converter things (look like a cassette, with a wire hanging off of them, and a 3.5mm plug on the other end) and plug it straight into my Ax. Beware though, the converters are not very good for the tape head in your car stereo. Hope that helps out.
Adam!

What would work for me is something like the iTrip for iPods...
something that form-fits to the axim. I've also seen the iRock but it's not quite as elegant.

I have the ARKON powered Mount and it does work great with my Axim. If you're going to be using it with the Pharos CF GPS solution, just ask them to trim the audio cord for the Pharos GPS. They'll know what you're talking about. They'll send you it all ready for use with the Pharos GPS CF solution. Then, you'll be able to hear your GPS voice commands loud and clear as the ARKON Powered Mount has a built in amplified speaker. It also charges the Axim. Sweet! See http://www.arkon.com/pdapower.html
ARKON has another cool product called the FM multimedia Mount that transmits all your Axim Audio through a blank station on the FM radio. You'll then be able to blast those GPS voice commands as loud as you want. The only downside of the FM Multimedia Mounts is that the DC power cord only powers the transmitter and not the Axim. See http://www.arkon.com/multimediapdamount.html

Yeah, cassette adapters are what they're typcially called, it is usually the quickest fix, it sounds pretty good too, a slight sound degrading, but easily overcome by the high quality of the car stereo anyay. These are also really cheap nowadays too.

Even if the head unit does not have a 3,5" jack line-in (AUX), which it should, since you paid a lot of money for it (and you shouldnt, because every aftermarket audio unit is better than the stock crappy ones), you can always hook up a twin wire to the AUX port at the rear of the unit. This will of course require taking off the unit from its base, and running the wire to the car holder for your Axim.....
I always get a unit with an AUX or a line-in at the back.....simply plug in my Archos or the Axim, and voila: hours of MP3 songs without any of the problems of the in-car MP3 players......;)

this is a cheesey way of doing it...but it works...you can get the sony speakers that can plug into portable players (eg. cd, mp3 players..ect)...the run about $20.00 and they actually work pretty good...you can plug them into the headphone jack on your AX and the music will obviously play via the sony speakers...i am not saying that is state of the art...but it's 20.00 bucks and it is something that you can use at home, office, car, ect...the sweet thing is...no batteries required or don't have to plug them in... hope that helps...

I have taken the car kit from a Sony Walkman and plugged the cassette adapter into the Axim and put the cassette in the cassette player and plays everything through the car speakers. Works Great!!
