Zipped files

I have downloaded some Axim programs to PC and they came as zip files. I could not unzip because Winzip said they were an unrecognizable format. I started working with Softreset program and eventually moved zip file to Axim but it was put in My Documents. After an hour I was unable to move to program files or create icon for Softreset on Axim X5.Will Axim unzip a program and place it on homepage? I tried everything including holding down stylus for options but there were no options that I can find to do anything I want. Softreset is a very popular program so I am hoping someone can guide me through installation.
This will also help me learn with other zipped files. Thanks, Bob

Which program is this? You should be unzipping the folders on your PC and then either installing them from your PC or copying them to your PPC (if it's a CAB file or a self-contained .exe).

Softreset

Gigi, thats the problem, it will not unzip with Winzip all I get are error messages. Is there a zip program made for unzipping Axim programs. I have now two downloads of Softreset, 1.0 and1.1 still zipped on my PC. I'm lost. Leaving for Doc, so will be back in a few hrs. (I hope). Bob I read your tutorial but can't figure this out, am I dumb or just missing a step?

Ok, I just downloaded the Softreset and unzipped it by clicking on it. It works just fine on XP. What is your operating system?

If you want to unzip files on the axim you can use total commander (freeware). (I know it works on the x3i and x50v anyways, not sure about the x5.) Although as Gigi says you would normally unzip on the pc side, not on the axim, if it is an installation program.

Total commander works on pretty much ANYTHING running Windows CE 2.0 or better. The H/PC version works on my ancient Casio A-11 H/PC. (Circa 1996 WinCE 1.0 device, upgraded to CE 2.0 in 1997.) The PPC version definately works on the X5.

In any event, it sounds like you just got a corrupted download. Try re-downloading the files and unzipping on your desktop again. Make sure you're *really* downloading again, and not just copying out of the browser cache.

I have downloaded the patches to make my Bluetooth chip (F8T020) work with WIndows 2003. I can unzip them but I cant send them to or copy to my Axim. I am syncronized.

is there a possible that your file is ziped by winrar, so you can not unzip it? you should unzip it at your PC and run setup to install software in your PDA.

there are a small application for PDA to unzip file which I have tried in my device, but that is not for PDA software, because those softwares' setup program is runing on PC
