Worried Resco Audio Recorder Not Working on Axim

Hi all,

I have installed the Resco Audio Recorder and I cannot seem to get the thing to record. I have check the righthand slider and it is at the bottom. The tests that the software can run are passing. When I install Resco, I also loose the ability to record from the normal PPC note record.

Any ideas?

TIA,

Craig

I installed Resco Audio Recorder last night and had the same problem. I'll check the Resco forums and see if there's a solution.

I also installed the trial version, and it recorded once then it wouldn't work anymore.
However after a soft reset it seems to work fine. Try that

Resco's forums proved fruitless. Most threads had zero replies, and the few with replies were just other users with the same problems. I get the distinct impression that no one from Resco actually visits their official forums :(

After a soft reset, it seems to work fine. I even mapped it to the Record button. It records to .mp3 great, at least to main memory. I haven't tried recording to a card yet.

Looked at VITO Sound Explorer - some websites said a later version would support MP3 recording, but the developer's website seems to be down.

I have been using NoteM on an Axim X5. It is the 400 MHZ Axim. I have been using it with NoteM for several months and have just run into a problem. As long as I run it in 32kbs mode and 11025 sample rate I'm ok (I'd like to get a better sample rate for improved audio quality). When I try to jump it up to a 22KHz sample rate I start getting 'hiccups'. The sound will abruptly jump kind of like having a splice in an audio tape. It sounded like maybe it wasn't able to get the data written to the memory fast enough. I thought maybe it was the CF card I was recording to. I tried recording to internal storage on the Axim itself and it appeared to work for short voice files. If I record for any length of time the audio drops out completely. NoteM will record for a few seconds but then the audio drops to silence. Its the strangest thing. If I go back to 11025 sample rate its ok. I have a 400 MHZ Axim so I would think that would be plenty of horsepower for encoding voice at 22KHz. I have read articles that say people record music with NoteM. Is it really low sample rate music? Is there something goofy in the Axim that it can't handle the higher sample rate? Maybe its time to move on to another pgm?

Thanks
Mike
