Question Axim X5 Last chance.....

OK, I've been doing some research on my Axim X5 trying to connect to WiFi with WPA. I've seen some mixed reports on the forums, so what answer I get here will help me decide if i should keep the X5 or just get a new PDA that supports WPA security.

Is it possible to connect the Axim X5 to a WPA network using any third party hardware or software or any combination of the two?

If so could someone advise me which CF WiFi cards work with WPA and what software?

I'd really appreciate the help.

Thanks!
Dan

WOW! Thanks for the quick reply.

Does it definetly work? Has anyone tried it? I don't want to go and spend $100 some odd dollars only to find out it doesn't work when I could have used that cash to get another PDA.

I am not sure if it supports WPA. The CF Card is around $25...

I know the Axim X5 itself doesn't support WPA, but is there any software combined with a CF WiFi card that lets one go onto a wireless network with WPA?

If not I'm afraid I'll be putting this baby up on Ebay and perhaps get another PDA.

What do you guys recommend, the Dell X51v (w/ Windows Mobile 5) or the HP hx4700 (HP will be coming up with an upgrade for it to have it use WM5).

I have the symbol 4137 with the socket drivers.
The security choices are
open system
40-bit wep key
128-bit wep key
eap-tls
peap

If that helps at all.

WPA is not natively supported in PPC2002 or WM2003, only WM2003SE and forward.

Socket recommends the following option for WM2003 users: http://www.mtghouse.com/products/client/index.shtml

I am not so sure that, but you think that WPA is important to you, you should buy a new X51, it must support

I use a Dell Axim X5 running Windows Mobile 2003. I have a Symbol LA-4137 CF wireless card. My wireless router is a D-Link DI-624. I've used WPA-TKIP with no problem.
