I found a huge activesync fix
I've seen this problem reported all over, no one ever found a solution.
This might fix a lot of things when activesync is behaving badly and NOTHING seems to fix it.
On your PPC, browse into the windows directory. Find a file called WCELOAD
and delete the little f*cker.
I totally rock for finding this. I think Dell ought to give me a new Axim. I'm serious.

What is the purpose of this file in the first place? Does it get created each time you do a sync? What activesync problems does it fix?

It's used to install software on your Axim.

If this file is used for new installs of software, what does deleting it accomplish?
I'd love to see a detailed post on how this helps Activesync issues (which I'd imagine we're all having).
-Does this seem to be necessary for the newly released v3.7?
-Have you run into any issues installing new software?
-What bugs have now gone away?

This sounds like one of those virus hoaxes. You know - "No antivirus will detect it - you have to manually delete it. Go to windows\system directory and find a file.... "
like that. I'm always leary when told to just delete a file without being told why.

Activesync was for me freezing first, and then finally just crashing and disappearing and not working at all. I tried the zillions of supposed fixes listed at the Dell Activesync BBS. Went through removing every blessed mention of activesynch on my desktop in the registry, in files, etc reinstalling ad nauseum. Nothing. The only time activesync ever worked was after hard reset. Whenever I reinstalled my backup, activesynch would be dead.
I deleted the file. Activesync rebuilt the file. Problems all gone.
Sheesh, I have like 300+ posts here, like I'm gonna try to trash everyone's axim?

I read through the MS KB article? Visual Basic? Weird weird weird. I wonder if AS is written in VB. It would explain a LOT.

Cool, thanks for the info io333. So you haven't seen any negative effects to deleting the file?
I knew you weren't trying to trash our axims :D
I just wanted to see if we were having similar activesync problems and whether it would clear mine up. I guess I have been lucky (relatively speaking) with Activesync. I haven't had to hard reset (yet - knock on wood)....
Anyway, thanks again for the tip!

Would deleting this file from my Axim fix the intermittent ActiveSync dropped connections over USB? When syncing with my wifi, the connection is rock solid. I'm using v3.6.
