X5 A00 upgrade questions

I have two X5 (A00). I tried R63937 from the Dell web site and the update failed: "files not written Cannot continue" or similar message. I tried the direct upgrade to PPC2003 A00->A05 with R64365, no joy 'upgrade from A04 to A05 only' Does anyone know if I can do the CF - 5 finger salute method and go from A00 to A)5?

Is there really nothing that can be upgraded on my X5 (A00)? I love my old X5, but I wish I could run some of the newer software. I'm new to the forum so bear with me. Any help would be appreciated.

My x5 is 3 yrs old now and its still running the first version of the ppc2002 os and there are hardly any programs i cant run and my axe is lightning fast.

It's so easy, and the X5 is faster, IMHO.

and WILL run on PPC2002 (maybe why Ax leaves his as is?)..the WM2003 just gives you better compatibility with PIE (newer version), WMP, which is 9.0 instead of 8, and fixes some issues with memory use and leaks, and of course the "other" fixes that may of may not affect you. Personally, I think the WM2003 is well worth the cost (free). From what I've read, you can 5 finger it off a CF card with any rev, just need the right file for the 300 or 400 MHZ version. My 400mhz conversion went flawlessly. I can email you the file if you want. perryinva@softhome.net
