Switching CF/SD cards

Does anyone if anything special needs to be done when removing a CF/SD card, with information on it?

Don't think so. I asked the same question a while ago and someone wrote that some think it's better if the Axim is turned off before removing either an SD or CF card, but mine automatically turns on when I remove; therefore, I don't see a need for it. What do others think?

Personally, I always make sure to turn on the Axim a few seconds before removing a card and then leave it on a few seconds afterwards, to make sure that there are no pending I/Os that will be interrupted and to allow it to recognize that the card is gone and shut down the driver for that device in an orderly fashion. I do that for both memory and I/O devices. I think people have scrambled their memory cards by removing them while they're in an inconsistent state (i.e., before the device has finished writing to the file system), and I know I've had to do soft and hard resets when I insert a different card before the device has completely processed the removal of the previous card.
