Try changing the name anyways, just to see what happens. Even though you feel it isn't duplicated.

Not sure on the "path not found" message. But for the permission issue, in File Explorer if you tap on "Open" at the bottom and enter a network path like "\\ServerName\ShareName" you should then be prompted with a box requesting your user ID and password (and domain if required) to access the network share. There's also an option to remember your password.

Thanks. I'm connected right now using the Travel Sync cable at work, since _erizon, my employer is super strict on WLAN's I don't have one at work. Would this prevent me from doing this? :( I wouldn't see why it would. I can browse the Internet this way.

I believe it would restrict you from accessing your corp network via the desktop PC and sync cable. ActiveSync only provides a proxy to allow sharing the internet connection (passing HTTP traffic). I am not aware of any capability to allow pass-through of regular TCP or NetBios network traffic.

Since your Axim is not on the network (just linked via USB to the desktop PC) you don't have any IP address, your device name is not registered with any DNS on the network, etc.

After you said that, it makes perfect sense! I just thought ActivSync was smarter. Why I would think that about a M$ program is beyond me!!! Thanks all. :D

I'm having similar problem but a slightly different situation, appreciate any inputs:

I have a Netgear MA701 CF wireless card setup and running on my wireless network at home. I can get access to the internet, Sync to my Laptop via wireless, no problem, except for one problem, I can't see my other networked computer folders. I'm using Resco Explorer 2003 , when I click on My Network nothing shows up. When I go to Map Drive , under Computers Near Me I can see my two other networked computer name displayed.
I have a DLink Di-614+ wirless router and have no problem sharing files between the other computers that are setup on this network. Also I tried to access my networked folder by typing the path manually using the regular File Explorer, but still no luck! My router assign the address via DHCP, when I log into the router I can see the other network computers and under the IP address for the Axim - Host name is label 'unknown'. Under Setting_System_About_Device ID I do have a Device name assigned. AM I missing something somewhere?

Thanks for your help

I am not familiar with the Resco product. Have you tried the File Explorer that comes with PocketPC. Open that and tap "Open" at the bottom. Then enter the network path you want and see if that works. Enter the path as "\\MachineName\ShareName". Again, not being familiar with the app you are using, it would be interesting to see if one works and one doesn't.

Try the regular File explorer and it doesn't work either. What's interesting is that although my D-Link router assigned an IP address to the Axim via DHCP it doesn't see the device name that is listed under Setting_System_About_Device ID. I can ping to my other two computers on the network without any problem. I'm running XP on both the other computer, it doesn't see the Axim on the network. I'm wondering if I'm missing a setting on the Axim?

I can now gett he log on box, but I think I typed the wrong password and now I can't get in. Access Denied! Can someone tell me where the password cache on PocketPC 2002 is located so I can delete it?

Can you ping the Axim from one of the other PC's on the network? And can you ping its ID name rather than the IP address DHCP assigned to it?

Look here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\Ident\
(your domain, username and password are all in there)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings\Passwords\
(passwords used on web sites)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Prov iders\{EF097F4C...AEF805DC0E8E}\SOCKS...\
(this is the proxy server ID and password)

Perhaps one of them will work for you.

I'm making progress. I made one change on my my D-Link router, chaneged my authentication setting from auto-> open system (don't know if this was the real fix or not). After the changed, I was able go to the map drive and select my other networked computers and the login screen now would popup and bingo I' have accessed to my networked folders.

I'm able to ping now from my other computer to AXIM using the networked name.

A couple of minor issues left:

1. When I go to My Network Place on the other computer, the AXIM doesn't shows up so I can't browse files on the AXIM from other computer. Can I view AXIM folder from the other networked computer?
2. Audio streaming from my other network computer to AXIM is not smooth, pause after 2-3 sec. The Signal Strength and Link Quality are at 100% on the Netgear, currently within feets of the router. Also Netgear show Link Rate @ 11 Mbps. Are there some parameters I can optimize on the Axim?

Thanks for all the help!
