connection dropping during sync

Please help...

My problem is that my Activesynch starts to sync and the drops connection. My Axim X5 is recognized in the cradle, synchronizing begins, displays "looking for changes", and then drops the connection to "Not Connected".

I have XP Pro SP3 and Outlook 2003.
I have just migrated to a new laptop. I have tried activesync 3.7, 3.8 and 4.1 but all three giving same problem.

Please help - never had these problems before on other pcs.

this is a very common problem with AS (as it has happened to me a few times). I am also running XPpro by the way and have not found a solid fix for this problem. You could try not syncing anything on your Axim, then check the boxes one by one until you figure out whats causing you not to sync. This worked for me but I can only sync my calander contacts and tasks.

any other suggestions - what are other people doing. By the way, do you experience it the same way?

I was haveing the same issue for a couple days. I backed up my Axim (to the CF card )did a hard reset (unpluged both batteries). Synced up and it connected and stayed connected. Then I crossed my fingers restored the backup and it to my supprise it still stayed connected.

Are you using the cradle or a wireless sync? I find that like 3/4 of the time my wireless synk will freeze up and dissconect. However, if I use my wireless link to connect to the 'net, then try to do a REMOTE sync, it works beautifully lik 90% of the time.

Hope that helps.

I was plagued with that problem for a while (at least once a week) and a hard reset would always cure it.
Another thing that worked for me was going into Internet Explorer (on the X5), selecting Tools then Options and then deleting temporary internet files. After that it would sync right up. I do this on a regular basis and I've never had activsync drop out while syncing again.
