D-pad improvements....

I hate how set back into the Axim the D-pad is. So here is my suggestion. Do you think there is some kind of small, sticky back, round, metal thingamajig that could be put on top of the indentations of the D-pad? I am referring to the four indentations(one for up, down, left, right) on the outer ring of the D-pad. I think this would allow easier directional movements in games and other things. Any other suggestions or input on this?

I personally like the d-pad myself, but maybe something like a joystick with a sticky back, that could be a best seller for not only the axim, but for many ppc's alike.:)

Interesting concept, attaching a joystick to the D-pad. I wonder how good the control would be? Let us know if it works micahlegg.

sure

not to sure either, seems you would need some strong adhesive, and a bottom metal plate.

Back to the soldering bench.

Got me to thinking...

I was playing around with this idea last night, looking for things in my video game-ridden house that just might work.

The tiny little D-pad from a Sega Dreamcast Visual Memory Unit (VMU) works nicely. It is round and slightly smaller in diameter than the Dell D-pad, and a single dot of adhesive foam tape would hold it in place indefinitely.

I don't care to stick things on my Axim, but I don't play many games on it either.

Sega VMUs are 3-5 bucks now and will provide a cute little D-pad to stick on your Axim if you are that desperate :)

You are all getting me excited. I would rather have something that snaps onto the Axim like schrags11 posted above.

These stick on things will never work right....

i mean basically your doing the same things
your fingers would do, i think it would be
better to use something electonically connecting
to the port below... like the two links in my post
above.... both of those "connect" ...

All these idea's are good and all,but if you want to add a controler to the port, you will need drivers, and i dont know anyone here that can write a driver/software for one.

But as the axims popularity grow's more and more,we might see one come up soon.;)

Exclamation New game pad attachment.

:D This is what we need. Everyone should bog down BenQ Inc. until they produce one for Axim X5.
